Any of you all use a gear indicator?
I see an product made by Acumen that
looks pretty cool. Does it work as advertised?
Looks like it would be helpful on the track.
What do you use to fasten it? Double stick tape ?

You might want to take a look at this. I kind of asked a similar question.

Shift indicator??You dont need that.
Follow these steps and you will save yourself money!
Step one. with the bike in nuetral pull the choke out and let the machine warm up to at least 100 degree's. Close, or push in the choke.
Step 2. Put it fist gear till it hits the rev limiter, shift to second.
Step 3. Repeat step one upshifting to third.
Step 4. Repeat step one upshifting to Forth.
Step 5. Repeat step one upshifting to Fifth.
Step 6. Repeat step one upshifting to Sixth.
Step 7. If you make it this far check for "BLUES"
Some model bikes come with these shift indicators. I think it is an idiot light. After a while you will learn the feel of bike and it's sounds. With these feelings and engine sounds you will know when to shift. If the bike sounds like it's SCREAMING then you should be shifting up!If it's a V-Twin like mine it will be ROARING like the beast it is!

RIP A.B. RIP BEET, I Ride in Leathers because I would rather sweat than Bleed...
After enough time on the bike, just looking at the RPM and speed you will be able to determine what gear you are in if you "forgot".
I know a little about everything, and alot about nothing.
lol.. that would be a shift ligth a gear indicator let's you know what gear you are in so you can stop trying to shift into 7thOriginally posted by Half Squid

I know a little about everything, and alot about nothing.
I can't imagine any use for it on the track...
If you screw up and miss a shift when braking... you're not going to have the time or brainpower to look down and figure out what the number should be.
About the only time I can see it is when you're going full on down a long straight and you want to verify that you're in 6th.
But if you are tapped out in top gear, I suggest keeping your eyes on the road
No, I thought about trying it the other day, but wasnt sure what would happen, so figured I'd ask here first.Originally posted by SmokennFasTT
its was ok.. come on, you never tryed it?![]()

But I dont even really care if I try it, because I sure as hell dont spend enough time in 5th or 6th gear for it to even matter.

I think they sell those gear indicators next to the tampon isle at the grocery store.
Ha ha silly kid gear indicators are for guys that belong on ODFU

"Hey, any of you guys hanging out in front of the bars on (street name) this weekend? Lets start a "group ride" and meet up there to pose, whos in!?"

Just because my sexual preference is alternate, doesn't mean you get the right to ridicule my inability to hit the right number of down shifts in turn one, turn 3 and turn 11 !
thanks tony
dont wanna be a kill joy.. on step 2-6 it says repeat step one... if he were to repeat step one all he would be doing is putting the bike in nuetral and puting the choke on and off and leting the bike worm upOriginally posted by Half Squid

I was gonna get one of those gear indicator things, but I thought my time would be better spent learning how to count to six. Saved a bunch of cash too!
