Moved to Vermont 6 months ago and this yesterday I had to get my Canadian Ninja all sorted out with the DMV.
Rode up to the DMV with my insurance paperwork and old green and pink slips.
Filled out a simple form with the usual questions, ( color, make vin# etc. ) after waiting 5 minutes.
New plate issued with a temp. sticker and a 15 day deadline to get the bike inspected.
Paid $37 to register and get a new to me plate for the state of Vermont. ( it was possible that the dmv was going to have me "import" the bike but they didn't bother due to it's age I guess )
Posted haste and rode back to town to see if the local garage had time for one last motorcycle inspection prior to 5pm.
I was in luck and he looked at the bike right away.
Another $20 and 10 minutes later and I was down the road with the last June sticker he had left in the shop.
Fully insured, plated and safety check completed.
Called my wife and gave her the good news that all the running around was done in just a few stops and less than 2 hours.
She suggested a good ride to celebrate and I just got back after logging about 125kms.
Feels good to go for a ride and the roads down here in the mountains are a smile a minute.
Total cost for insurance, plates etc. is a grand total of $265. That leaves enough money for gas the rest of the year compared to just insurance payments back home.(1100.00 +15% tax)
I think I'm going to like it here.
I'll have to try and make time to join up on a few rides, find that secret road in Vermont and get to the top of Mt. Washington. I will also try to ride up to tuesday night pizza at Donny's as well.
