Welcome Jennay. Please ignore the homo-erotic innuendos here from our closeted "alternative life stylists" (you too will wish they'd at least close the closet door..) Anyway the Party Nov 3rd is in Windham NH, I'll send you a PM with the details...
and please ignore that 42 number in my profile, thats a thread count or something...and the finger wagging next to wife 66?....that ahhhh means.. that I don't have a wife? thats it!

Funny stuff! Thanks in advance for sending me the drunkathon info, I will plan to go. It's great that you all can come together for such a good cause.

I would love to do track days down the road, but right now, the Target parking lot is more my speed!

Your comment about leathers reminds me - what do you guys recommend for leathers? I've heard good stuff about the Vanson outlet in Fall River, any thoughts on whether it's worth the trip? I have all the other gear I need for now (helmet, boots, textile jacket and pants, gloves), but any tips are appreciated.

Wow, I just saw in the gear section that there's a 10% discount at Vanson for members of this forum. This place is awesome.

Personally i think Vanson WAS good but no longer is. They no longer have the same level of customer service, and many of their products are outsourced and complete junk.

If you're thinking most usable in summer time be sure and get perf'd leathers, try and avoid black too. and get a helmet that fits correctly and don't cheap out, I like Arai. Each manufacturer make a couple models and they all fit different for different shaped skulls. Hell if you're thinking track day in the future when you buy gloves get a set that pull tight around and go well above your wrist with solid knuckle protection (I have three sets and only one is good for the track). I'm in the habit of wearing a back protector under my Joe rocket Ballistic street jacket at all times, if you have it use it! Spend a couple bucks on good boots too (I have two pair, same story only one works for the track). Before you buy something post for opinions, some stuff out there is only ornamental at best.

Oh ya, keep your head on a swivel out there and don't let cagers think you're intimidated... I say a strong offense is the best defense!

Thanks for the advice. I've gone with the safest gear I could find so far - except my gloves (joe rocket) only go to my wrist, and I realized that I should probably have gauntlets. Otherwise, I have a bright red Arai corsair (sp?) helmet, Sidi boots (I think they're called B2's), and First Gear textile jacket and pants. I want leathers eventually but haven't seen anything I've liked yet. The First Gear outfit has a ridiculous amount of features, it seemed very safe.

I would recommend a snug fitting pair of Adam & Eve leather assless chaps.

jennay, 99% of the time, people say to avoid buying overpriced stuff at the dealerships. The one near me has been selling Joe Rocket textile, and many leathers 50%. I got an AGV Suzuki jacket for $130 2 months ago.
