I've got the morning free on Saturday and plan on taking a ride over to HMR. Going to hit Bear Notch along the way too. Haven't been over towards Maine this year, so I figure it would be a good day for it. I've been through both in a car (both at night also), but never on the bike.
I'm just wondering if it's generally more fun to ride them one direction than the other. My loop clockwise would make for Bear Notch going north, and HMR going east. Obviously counter-clockwise would be the opposite. Not setting any records, just curious.
either way is good, although I would rather go counter clockwise

i think HMR is more fun from the NH side

Add a ride up 113 through Evan's Notch as well if you can. Nice little loop
hmm... I guess that will depend on what time I get out of bed Sat morning. Got to be home by 130 or so.
If I add Evan's, this is what I end up with. Planning to head up along 93 to the Kanc, then do the rest. If I do Evan's I'll probably end up going through HMR twice. I might slab part of 93 just to save a little time on the way up, but we'll see.

If anybody wants to join, feel free, but I don't plan on stopping too often.
Bail on 93. Add 175. Wynonna. Maybe 118/Sawyer Hwy.
Other than that, doooo eeit.
I'll be busy with family stuff. Ride safe. Have a good one.
HMR both ways loop smoop

eh...
kanc->BNR->HMR->113->2->5->153 to sanbornville
before and after that do what you want

Winona Rd is pretty bumpy this year, although still quite rideable. 175 has some nice sections. Now for some real fun, right before the intersection of 175 and 49 going north there is a road on the right, River Rd I believe. take that for about a mile then take a right up into Waterville Valley estates at the sign. You will immediately come upon 4 very tight uphill hairpins...fun fun

Thanks for the heads up. Probably going to stick to 132 and 175 through here since Winona's fairly close to home and to limit the time it takes me to get further north. That's really the goal for the day.
Looks like that Pond Rd could be a quick, fun little detour though.
yeah, its a blast, but a little confusing. It basically takes you up to the top of the estates, then you can hop on winterpond rd from there(recently paved and curvy) which will bring you back down to 175 a mile or so south of the intersection

Also, the just repaved 132 all the way from canterbury to Tilton, so it is nice and smooth now
