    2005 R6 Stalling issues

Hey Y'all One of my MC's riders has a 2005 R6 9k miles roughly and she is beginning to have issues with the bike staying at idle and from what she tells me that It is stalling after it has warmed up, I don't know Yamaha's very well and I fooled around with the idle system with the thoughts that it some how was knocked and brought down and came to no avail to the resolution. So i am all out of Ideas, she broke her leg so she is not able to work on the bike her self, Any one have any good ideas?

It would probably help to have more specific details to get an educated answer, but this thread my help: http://www.nestreetriders.com/forum/...00rr-help.html

I am having trouble with my 03' 600RR cutting out while idle - and some of the same symptoms and possible solutions may apply to you.

That vintage R6 is known to have issues with the throttle position sensor(TPS). It can be pretty easily taken apart, cleaned, adjusted and then put back together. There are detailed walk throughs on probably all of the R6 specific forums, I believe I used the one of R6central.com when I did mine.

R6Central is no longer, long story. We are now R6Live.com. There's a pretty good base of knowledge on there.

It does sound like the infamous TPS issue. Common problem. As Kurtz mentioned, you can usually fix the existing one easily. All that really needs to be disassembled is removing the tank to gain access.

Was stabil used over the winter, or was the bike started regularly?
If no, have the plugs been checked?

It is stored out side under and small bike casing, and no sure about the stable and or plugs I didn't get much info about it since the last time that I checked it, but when I did start it there was no hesitation, the TPS probability sounds like that is what is going,, I set everything back on the bike to the Man Spec and she doesn't have a PCM in it so I'm thinking changing out the TPS is probably the best area to start with,, much appreciated with all the feed back.

When you say it started fine the last time you tried, when was that?

Have you tried bump starting it?

How would bump starting it affect the idle?
