    Leather alterations

Does anyone know, or have any of you ever had serious alterations to leather suits? I'm pretty confident I know I fit into the chest, waist and sleeves of most suits but I'm short and have a short inseam as well. If I could take a normal suit and have an inch or two taken off the bottom it would fit me great. But I'm guessing this would involve alterations to the zipper and closure down by the feet. Is this something a tailor or leather repair place could do?

I know A* make "short" suits but I don't have the money to spend on a brand new suit. I'm looking around wear classifieds and wanting to pick up something used and shorten it to fit.

    Re: Leather alterations

Adam, I emailed Barnacle Bill a while ago about shortening a pair of leather pants, here was his response:
are the knees too low? are you shortening above the knee?> or @ the cuff? above the knee is 95.00 @ the cuff is 50.00 plus return shipping ( 20.00 ) or include your own ups return shipping label. we can turn it around in a few days. thanks, bill and darethea

Also emailed lizzy@lizzyleather.com but don't think I got a response.

Awesome thank you! Called a few places around here and none seem to be able to work with the thickness of the leather.

I've had Lizzy repair my suit and wouldn't hesitate to send a suit to her again. Decent price and turn around.
Try calling the phone number and leave a message with your cell number. Worked for me. She usually called right back.

I'm kinda late to this thread but there's a guy in Fall River (Roberto) who I've used in the past (and other NESR members have too). He does great work and will work on any suit EXCEPT Vanson (conflict of interest). Here's his number. #508.617.6758.....PS: he likes to text. Lol

Didn't see post #5. I guess I'm just beating a dead horse, huh Jim? Haha. Well they always say that there's no such thing as TOO MUCH advertising.

    Re: Leather alterations

I actually picked up some gear on Sunday that fits. Guys name was Mike from NH who raced an RS250 in LRRS. Sold me a joe rocket GPX suit, pair of held gloves, and a* bionic air back protector for an outstanding price. Suit fits great but there is a little bit of slack around the knees. I"m doing the sunday and monday TTD's at thompson so I plan on talking with one of his instructors and getting their input on the fit and weather it should be altered or not.
