Haha the flip out at the end was unexpected and funny. Clearly its not a DOT light and the cop was super lenient to let him go with 3 warnings. I expect that if the law about something protruding from a helmet is actually for the purpose of safety it would be a pretty easy argument if you're able to point out the break off points or a statement from the manufacturer.

I don't think that's correct at all. If you try that and wait any amount of time and then you tell him, I can almost guarantee that he will flip the fuck out when you do tell him.

In Ohio (as in many states), the law requires concealed carry gun owners to immediately inform law enforcement if they have a weapon when they are pulled over.

Exactly the opposite. The courts clarified that the police officers had no expectation of privacy and thus could be legally recorded.

If you are asking if wearing a helmet cam will get you hassled, I wore one commuting almost every day last season and they either didn't notice or didn't care. Most of the LEO that I know don't mind being videotaped: they feel it is more likely to protect them than hurt them.

It varies by state. I don't believe any New England state requires you to disclose, while elsewhere - Alaska, for example - you are obliged to do so.

If you ask 100 LEO's whether to disclose or not, half will probably say yes and half will probably say no. The "no" think it just complicates an otherwise trivial encounter.

My personal position is that I disclose because if I were a LEO, I'd want to know, so I treat him the way I'd want to be treated.

In the CCW class I took, they said if you are asked to step out of the vehicle, at that time, you should tell the officer "I have a LTC-A License and am currently exercising that right".

Sure, half of the cops will freak out because you've been sitting on a gun while they were dealing with you, but rarely does a licensed person draw down on an officer in a traffic stop.

ehhhh wrong! I lived in VT for many years and it is legal to carry concealed and loaded. When you are confronted by the police or pulled over you TELL them about the weapon. I've had to do it before when I was pulled over. I just told the cop I have a hand gun (9mm) on my left side and that it was loaded. He reached in took out the weapon placed it on the roof of the car and proceeded. When all was done and over with he handed me back the gun and went on his way.

In mass you should tell them too, that is unless you don't have the license to carry concealed

you can take your firearm into ANY building other than state or federal buildings. Get this it's perfectly legal to go on school grounds with a weapon so long as you do not enter the building or buses.

I went into my bank one day and forgot I had my gun on me, I was walking or I would have left it in the car. The woman told me I could not come in there with a gun. Being that I knew the clerk and was a long-time bank customer I explained to her that I had every right. If she was requesting I not bring it next time that's one thing but telling me I cannot or telling me to leave because of it is a violation of rights in VT.

Oh yea it's still on the book in VT that you MUST bring your shotgun to church with you on Sunday, this is back in the cowboy/indian days
