Both cities I've lived in out here have a day each month when you can bring most hazardous waste like that to a specific location and drop it off (oil, antifreeze, transmission, brake, etc). It's free (unless you have some ridiculous amount of something, I think).
I just do it every month that I have anything to get rid of, so it doesn't ever amount to much.
Of course I can't speak for Lowell.![]()

I need to get rid of some oil too. I probably have 10-12 quarts of it now. Give it away for free. Anyone wanna come by and get it?![]()

dude, I had around 25 gallons of old oil around in multiple containers in my garage and shed. I put them in 5 gallon covered containers from home depot and took them to the landfill. I dumped them in the oil collection drop off in about 5 minutes and was done. Forget the stores, the recycle depots will take it.
Folks, when you buy oil, you already pay a disposal fee for every quart you buy. Garages, quick oil change centers (valvoline and midas) have to take it.
I am sure if you mention that you be calling the local bureau of environment protection ... they will change their tune.
Many of those places heat their buildings with the waste oil so it behooves them to accept it.
Just pour it in the street and light it on fire. Dont worry, it will burn itself out eventually.
I know a little about everything, and alot about nothing.

Just take it to Jiffylube after they close and leave it in front of a bay door.Trust me they will do the right thing. 5000.00 fine if they dump waste oil.
But if you get caught putting the oil in frt of jiffylube you'll be fine $25000.00

i was tempted to go back and leave the bottles in front of that CAP auto parts after they close but thought of spy cams every where these days.
i think some of the individual working at the place just don't want to deal with it and gives you hard time.
