nothing like a sale falling thru to motivate you to higher levels.....of spending
probably be a bit more comfortable....![]()
I say pursue the RC8 hunt. The 1290 sdr is killer but not the iconic RC8r.

Looks like it was sold within the past week, sorry.
Bunch of Duke 890R’s for sale for 10 or a little less though
I don't consider these to be the unicorns you do, but I know we've been back and forth on these a few times. I would have taken it non-running because they're pretty simple bikes, but as others have said, $500 off is a joke.
When you finally get one, I have two sets of track plastics and some parts if you want them.
I kept reading this as a KTM RC8C and I was convinced it was an April Fools joke.
2021 KTM Duke 890 R
2020 BMW R1250GS Adventure Exclusive
1982 Honda CB750F Super Sport
Maybe the seller saying it ran was the April fools joke?
Your park avenue leads to..
FWIW, I sold a really clean ‘11 this time last year with 8k on the clock for $10,000. I was really happy to get that much for it, I paid $7k in 2019. They’re out there, they just don’t come up often.
Yeah I just looked up my for sale ad. I think I sold my 2012 with 19k for $9k, granted that was before covid. I don't remember what I paid for it, but not more than $7k.
2012 KTM RC8R
OP was trying to buy it back then too!
Why did you guys sell yours?
I wish I hadn't, but that's the case with many of the ones I've sold.
For me, it didn't suit my riding style very well. It's rare that I get out for a spirited ride, just for the sake of riding. The vast majority of my miles are commuting, and I get out on 2-3 long trips a year (where I need luggage, etc). So, commuting into Boston with it kind of sucked. It was pretty uncomfortable, got hot, and hated sitting in traffic and bouncing through potholes. I also hated parking it in the city considering how nice and flashy it was. I also couldn't ride it anywhere near its capabilities, which I always feel weird about.
But man, when I got to stretch its legs, it was something to behold.
i remember oogling an RC8 at Marcus Dairy for what was maybe the last Super Sunday (?) what an amazing day ripping north-western CT ... can't believe how long ago that was.
hope you end up with a prize, xrocket. (although you already own one of my dream road bikes)
