Man arrested in Providence following fatal hit-and-run with motorcycle | News - Rhode Island news right now | Providence Journal
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A man riding a motorcycle died Saturday night following a hit-and-run accident that caused his motorcycle to strike a building, the police said.
The victim was turning onto Plainfield Street at about 11:30 p.m. when he was struck by a car heading east on Plainfield Street. The impact sent the motorcycle onto the sidewalk, where it struck a building before landing in the road, the police said.
The driver of the car fled south on Barrows Street but later returned to the scene. Raul Lastor Pol, 25, of Providence, was charged with operating without a license and leaving the scene of an accident, death resulting. He had a Republic of Guatemala ID card but did not have a license, the police said.
The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital. The police did not identify him, saying they were not sure if his family had been notified.

i wonder if he returned to the scene out of guilt or stupidity?
I'm assuming guilt. Ran because he's unlicensed and likely here illegally. Came back because he probably realized he wouldn't be able to live with himself.
I went to MMI I know what Im doing here chief
Sad story in any case. A motorcyclist loses his life and a man has to live with the dread of killing him the rest of his.
whats really sad is nothing will happen to the driver. he will get shipped back to Guatemala with no recourse to the family for his actions
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

Guaman gets 12-14 years in Milford motorcyclist fatality - Worcester Telegram & Gazette - telegram.com
A similar story played out over the past few years in Mass. Ecuadorian illegal alien hit a motorcylist, dragging him for a quarter mile, while drunk. He left the scene. People tried to get him to stop, IIRC, near-by people were running along side his trunk banging on the window (per previous articles). And again, IIRC, his defense also attempted to have him declared incompetent. Story got a lot of news coverage if you want to look in to it further. He was sentenced to "12-14 years".

Sending someone to jail for killing a motorcyclist is a 'lose'?
Go fast. Have fun. Repeat.
It's not a win, it's just less suck. It still costs us all money. The victim's family and friends aren't much better off. And the convict's family is also torn up. Jailing someone is rightly vengeful to a degree, but the primary purpose is deterrent and (should be) rehabilitation. It's difficult to see any positivity in the events following a death like that.
