I hiked the base of mt Fuji. Snow had closed much of the mountain above the first level. I highly doing aokigahara forest if you can.

That looks pretty cool. We've locked in a lot of the trip but maybe we can get to the aokigahara the day before the Mt Fuji climb.

It's pretty easy to access, I don't know which way your planned approach is though. I came in from the north so your pretty much forced into the forest.
Bamboo forest is another cool thing to see but that's mostly walking.
Get a goshuincho book and see if you can fill it. It's just a nice thing to do that makes you explore different areas all in a quest for a stamp. I really enjoyed filling mine. It sent me to all corners of southern Japan.
