    Shock rebuild

    Hey Guys,

I am looking to send my shock out to be rebuild. I was wondering if anyone has a "guy" they send theirs to. I am looking for semi cheap, good, and in time for the next race weekend up at Loudon.

Does anyone have any information on that. let me know. Last race weekend was rough with a shock that was bottoming out on every bump. And Forks that suck too.

    Another question,

What would be cheaper? Getting the my forks rebuild or just go buy forks that already have race internals in them? My bike will take forks from F2, F3 or hawk.

    Thanks,
    Kid

GMD Boston, Pete Kates, not the cheapest thing to get done but well worth it! He does his own internals, probably cheaper to buy his internals and have him install them then get race built forks, as far as the rear shock you may be better off going with a penske unless you have a penske or ohlins or something worth rebuilding

John @ CTR Suspensions (http://www.ctrsuspensions.com/) does my work now. Last guy to touch my suspension parts was Mike Matire with GMD NYC.

I think I'll do that for the forks. And for the rear shock, I have a Fox. Is it worth rebuilding?? I am very new with this, so sorry about the dumb questions.

Get the forks done for sure. I'd rebuild the Fox shock too... a service and respring if required isn't too bad. Any aftermarket shock is better than stock. I'd get in touch with him pretty quick since next race weekend is a week and a half away

    Re: Shock rebuild

Definately rebuild the rear shock or at the least get it serviced (depending on the spring). What front end do you have on the bike? You may luck out and just have to replace oil and seals since they come set up from the factory for a 140lb Japanese guy.

Your F2's should be Ok. Are they leaking? Have you set you sag?

Her forks are leaking, but it looks like its because she chipped the fork tube when she tossed the bike into the gravel pit in turn 6 on saturday....
Any one know if a hawk fork tube will fit into the f2 leg? I will give her a hawk fork leg if so...

Isn't the F2 forks better than a hawk front end?

Yup, but the fork tube is the same, so if doc has a tube for sale i would rather just buy a tube. That way i can sell the hawk front end i have complete as oposed to making a pile of parts out of it...

If i where you i would be REALLY nice to doc, cause he has the front end you need in his spare bike.....

I have a set of Hawk forks that I think are bent, I'll need to check.

The F2 front on my spare bike will be in use (I hope) next race weekend. Gonna do final buttoning up this weekend (cross fingers). I think I need fork seals as well.

NO worries, If you need them for your other bike, you need them. Thanks for checking though.

Post up on the Hawk forum. I am SURE someone there has a set of stock forks.
