Well, the choice is easy. I'd get the RSV-R
Plus when Haga wins the WSB championship next season on it, it may be worth more:o

How much do i work on them? You're right, NEVER. they are so perfect i hate to touch (huh huh...touch) them
For the extra money, i feel the R is a good value

If you're buying an RSV there is NO logical reason not to get the R. The suspenders and wheels are more than worth it. Just don't ever ride an RSV-R if you only get an RSV.

And no matter what SportRider mag says about lowering it and not having ground clearance issues, I say bullshit. Unless you prefer scraped bodywork.

I've never ridden a RC51 or TLR, but the RSV-R rocks for FAST riding. If you don't get a knee down on this bike, you won't.

Steve, the SV is kinda small for highway & two up, but in the tight twisties, you might like its light weight compared to the litre twins, I am considering a new bike this spring also, prolly a DL1000 V-Strom, but I'm keepin the SV for most of my riding

If you've never ridden an SV, take mine for a test ride the next time you see me.

RSV-R, you know you want it and if you can afford it, why look anywhere else. You would probably want lighter wheels for RSV anyway. Then there is quality of Ohlins, not just adjustment range.

I would wait for Haga to screw up the championship and prices might down a bit. :o

I would also stay away from TLR, they will probably stop making them after next year anyway. Right Stonner?

You already know my answer to Steve's original question. And I'd LOVE for 'Zook to STOP making the TLR. What I'd hate is if they come out with a new & improved model that puts down about 15 more horsepower and weighs 40 lbs. less...

That's what I'm waiting for! If that happens, it WILL be my next bike (provided they don't turn it into a gixxer 600).

Which twin should I buy for next year ??

Aprilia: Does nothing for me, asthetically speaking. I realize it's an awesome piece of machinery and it's superior to a lot of bikes in many ways. I just wish they had made 'em better looking...

RC-51: This is the bike that would be sitting in my garage had I not wedged my RF between two trees last summer. My plan was to use the RF for 2-up travel, and ride the RC on more aggresive 1-up rides. I love the look and handling of it, but I wasn't overly impressed with the power delivery. And that first tall first gear drove me nuts and I only had to use it a coupla times. When Honda first intro'd 'em, they touted 'em as exlusive bikes. It kinda turned me off once it seemed that anyone could get their hands on 'em...

TL-R: Now this bike hits me in every way. The look, handling, sound, seating position, two up readiness, power delivery, EVERYTHING! After riding an RC, I'm very happy with the choice I made by going with the TL-R. And I'm astonished by the comfiness of the passenger accomadations...

TL-S: An excellent comprimise between the TL-R and the VTR. A bit more comfy than the TL-R, and the power range is geared a bit more towards the mid-range. The clutch isn't quite as grabby as it's "R" bretheren, and it doesn't rev quite as high. Surprisingly, you'll see more of these on local tracks than you will the "R". After I toasted my RF, this is the bike I was trying to find the right deal on, but I couldn't find one in black...

VTR: Don't do it! Don't even think about it! I was incredibly disappointed with mine. It was incredibly comfortable, it was incredibly linear in power delivery, it was plenty comfy for 2-up riding, and it was incredibly reliable and solid. The lack of a fairing however, made it a drag to ride in the rain or at interstate speeds (which I do a lot of). Next to no wind/weather protection, and I'd get tossed around on the highway. It was very hard to ride at 80 + MPH, and the "flex frame" was mush when it came to the fun stuff. And it went through tires like they were nothing...

I'm not a big fan of Italian marquees, and I don't buy into the "racetrack" equation either. That's like saying the Monte Carlo is the fastest, best handling car out there 'cuz one was driven to the Winston Cup championship. I don't buy it, and I think one has very little to do with the other...

If I hadta do it all over again (without nearly killing myself), I'd still have gotten the Tiller...

My sources say 10.5. Peak power is at 9.2, so it's irrelevant.

Just a question... and yes, I know it's a fuckin' stupid question!

Why a twin? Is there some advantage I wasn't told by my ill, I mean well-informed sales guy, or is this just a preference?

How about one of you guys let me take out your twin and you can look at my mangled mass of motorcycle parts while I'm out on yours.

I just love the power delivery. Anyone can show me dyno charts and whatever that say an R1 or 929 puts more power/torque down from top to bottom, but it doesn't FEEL that way when I'm on it. My TL makes me grin like no other bike I've ever ridden.

That's a perfect answer JC... the only grinning I've been doing lately is over how far I can wheelie... on my BMX!

Seriously, numbers are nice...dyno...weight...etc...but how does it make ME react when I ride it? That's the only thing that matters to me.

I rode a dirtbike for the first time in years last weekend...a '98 CR125...and I can haul it up on the back wheel in 4th gear, but I can't balance worth shit on it. I'm going back out on it tomorrow morning for a few hours...this guy just got the CR and a 250X quad. WOOHOOO!!

JC had the perfect answer. No, I don't care much about the numbers either. There's not too many people I know that can use their 140 HP near to it's fullest. Does a few pounds matter? Not to me, not on the street...

Everytime I get off the TL-R, it leaves me grinnin' ear to ear. Doesn't matter if I'm just fartin' around locally or doin' a 300 mile run either. That thing just makes me feel like a total bad-ass...
