I have Vortex on the SV. Saves time from having to get the key every time it needs a fill.

Also make damn sure the cap is vented. I don't think the Vortex caps are, and I've heard that can cause issues.

    SSR slingshot racing

As an update I have raced with that cap all season, it works perfectly, the ball bearing/spring vent still functions properly.

I did get in a rush once and jam the oring in the threads and it got all fucked up, had to replace it. That was my fault though.

I'm not really sure how I feel about that. It takes one wise-ass to fuck with your bike, sugar in your tank, whatever.

That being said, if you don't leave the bike unattended in public areas very often it's probably not a big deal

It's not much easier than dealing with the key, because the screwoff one you have to have somewhere to put the cap while it's off, whereas with the key, usually it's hinged

My HD has a screwcap and for 4 years I've NEVER had an issue with vandalism. use that info how you wish. 98% of the time I don't have the key and don't lock it up either.

So... Anyone have any idea if there's a company that makes one for the 650r? I can't find one anywhere. Mine is totally corroded and can't be opened because the key mechanism won't turn.

Get some pb b'laster. Available from home depot etc. Spray it into the keylock and anywhere else you can around the fuel cap. Wait an hour and it should work.

I was under the impression that the filler cap on the 650R was a standard unit used on the all the sport bikes (ZX-6R, ZX-10R, Z1000, etc.), in which case one of these would work. But if that's not the case, then no, I can't find any 650R specific caps.

    Re: Twist Gas Caps

I got my SSR gas cap in the mail today. Turns out they're in Oakland, so I bought it, paid for 5 day shipping and got it the next day.

Fits perfectly, incredibly light. I love it!
