Video: Why I love to ride the Fellsway :)

Careful though, there are some off camber decreasing radii turns in there, but it's great to bring the laptop and do some work in the woods, huzzah.

Yah they come up fast, in fact shortly after the one where I transfer back to the right there is just one such curve, (decreasing and OC) all goes to show that there is no need to override anything.

But it's the best place to ride, then hide in the woods and do work. Central Park pales in comparison

It's one thing to ride like that up in the mountains somewhere...completely other game when you are dicing it up with commuters.

The right hander right after the hospital? Yah, trust me, I know the road. I got popped doing about 90 in that turn. I say about, cause I went into the turn over 100. Riding hard on that road is just a terrible idea.

Gasp* there's a smart place to ride like your bike is built to be ridden, and lots of not-so-smart places. Ask many of the vet/expert racers how they ride on the street...I bet the majority will tell you "much more laid back" than before they started riding up there.

Ps, I'm not one of those guys, nor do I claim to be.

Oh, believe me I rode it 6 times and inspected it before I did any video and only rode hard for that segment, kept it well under my limits. The point about the Fellsway is more that you can have fun waaaay under breakneck speeds and then go hide from the World and get some work done.

    Peace,

And no Ted, I don't normally ride the Fells (or anywhere else) like that. Measured it all out, inspected the road and made 3 passes for a video.

Like I was saying, Lajos Silberstein taught me well when we were housemates for a while -- He was David Sadowski's mechanic back in '90 during the Daytona heyday. I think he's still street riding but I know he races either an Aprilia or Honda 125 these days.

    See you soon!

No no, I'm not upset by the comments, most people here don't know me so I am thankful for their concern, totally. If I weren't making a video and made half a dozen passes and inspected the road I would never ride through there at 8/10ths, which is about where I was.

Track days themselves aren't that bad. LAPS runs days for $149, if you buy 30 days out before an event. BoMo and TTD run specials. Sign up for their newsletters on their respective sights. You may also see auctions for track days and people trying to get rid of them if something comes up.

You can make a track day relatively inexpensive. Buy a jacket/pants combo that zip together, though full leathers (1 or 2 piece) are recommended.

Boots can be had for short money.

And everything can also be rented (gear, that is)

Yah I didn't know I could rent alot of this. I would have been to a track day already but I've had some serious issues that kept me out of town most of the summer and flattened my wallet so I've barely had time to keep the bike reasonable itself, Ted knows LOL.... (you don't have to agree too hard, Ted)

I'll need to safety wire the rig, right?

Word... they're not cheap, but IMO worth every penny There's definitely ways to get to the track on a budget.

Yeah, most of the TD organizers here have or have access to some sort of rental program. I know we have partnerships with Seacoast as well as MotoMarket and I think BoMo has a similar relationship with them but I'd have to check their site. I'm not sure if LAPS has any rental info on their website, but you could just go direct to Seacoast or MotoMarket.

As for safety wiring, VERY little is required, if any. TTD, LAPS and BoMo all have slightly different bike prep requirements, but they're all very easy to do and are listed on our respective websites.

Most track day orgs just require you to tape over things like lights, mirrors, etc. Some require you to change out the antifreeze, others don't. Some require a little safety wire on the oil filter (spin-on type) and drain bolts... It's all pretty minimal unless you're goin racing.

I can help you safety wire Chris.
It's just a whole lot of fun with no reachable restrictions.
Come visit me this week and I'll show you some of the options for track days.
I have a few partially sposored options for you too.
