That thing is going to be a money pit.
Free would be the most expensive I'd go to even consider it.

Even I wouldn't want that.
And that's saying something!
Keep looking, you'll find something. Hell I bought an 84 nighthawk off Clayton for the amount you offered for that bike.
Wirelessly posted
Way to take advice doc. :-)
$100 down the drain.
Those things are a cult bike. You could make money in parts quick off that thing. Not to mention if you could get it running and riding they're pretty damn neat. It looks like most of it is there.
Make sure you bring a shovel and a bucket. That's the only way that muffler is coming home with you.

Sweet deal, think of all the free hepatitis it comes with.

I can resist everything but Pete's mom.
Well she needs love for sure. Big things are make sure the tank has no holes and it turns over. In the pic the swinger looks bent? Yes $100 is cheap but finding parts are going to be hard and when you do find a part I’m sure you’re going to pay for it.
What up, bitches?
If it's just nasty and dirty maybe it's OK, but if the swingarm is bent this thing could be junk. If this bike is missing lots of parts then it could be a nightmare.

Nice lawn ornament.
And by "nice" I mean "shitty". You get that thing running and I'll race the Miss Match in a pink tutu.

I'd say that $50 is about right, for a parts bike. Or maybe could be the basis for a non-stock cafe or moto giro bike. There are better ones out there in various stages of repair/disrepair. Parts are plentiful. Knowledge is plentiful.
Check out Bill Mr. Honda Silver -- He sells a great resto manual.

Hey, that was the bike that Al Pacino rode in Serpico....
I bought one as my first bike for $125 in 1983.

Some day I'm going to get one and restore it.
Doc, if you buy it and at some point decide to give up and get rid of it...let me know, please...

Sam
On the plus side, it's got wheels, suspension, seat, tank with chrome panels, sheet metal except for side covers, battery case, tool case, and motor looks complete. The rest is unknown as you say. If lucky, the motor will come apart without destroying it. If I were thinking of making this a running bike, first I'd get several cans of PB Blaster, drench it inside and out, and set it to soak for a couple of weeks. You could run pod air filters and any choice of aftermarket mufflers, unless you wanted to spend $800 for the top quality reproductions.
If you want to post more detailed pics, I'll be glad to take a look. Try a search on eBay for CB77 parts and or Honda 305 parts -- tons out there, Honda sold millions of these I think.
And don't believe everything you think.
For what it's worth, my old CB160 that you had for a short time, I paid $50 for and it was in pretty damn good shape. Just sayin.
Ya I liked that thing but it was screaming at me for a restoration when i bought it as a Vintage racer so I had to get rid of it.
I have not heard back regarding this bike but was told "all the parts are there" except the mufflers obviously.
I just heard that there may be a Hawk GT for sale for CHEAP so the money will most likely go to that instead as I have alot of parts for one of those.
Although I really wanted to get this running to see Pete in a TuTU.

Just give Pete the $100 to see him in a tutu. Then you won't have this hunk shitting up your garage.
