Yes you NEED one in a car too, you have just been lucky that you have not been stopped and asked for proof of insurance with limits of liability that meet their laws. Your insurance company should give you one on short notice and free of extra charge (my insurance agent can make one ou for me in a matter of minutes

get in an accident without one or stopped & asked for one without having it in your posession, you will find out you are in trouble without the protection of the US constitution.

Hummm. I have NEVER been asked for such a thing. Perhaps because I live in MA the level of my coverage is at or above what CA wants, so I don't have to proove it at the border, whereas NH doesn't requier Insurance you all have to prove to the Frenchies that you have some? This does bear looking into however. I was just at my insurance agent today. I wish I knew about this question then!

no, I have never been asked before either, but it's their law that you carry their card, don't matter what state you come from. and your regular insurance company card might not cut it, many insurance policies have exclusions for travel out of the US.., mine covers me in Canada, but excludes mexico

My insurance company sends 'em to me whenever my policy gets automatically renewed. I thought that's what they all did...

    August 10th a "REAL" ride

I orderad my new tires today. Avon Azaro STs. If all goes well they will arrive friday and be installed Saturday. I plan to bring them just the wheels. I was going to borrow a friends swing arm stand, but I tried the bolt & jack stand thing and it was uber stable. I plan to use a wratchet strap over a beam for the front. I've never taken wheels off of a motorcycle before, what do you guys think? Also, if tires go on in time my wife OK'd the sunday ride.

P.S. Does anyone want to see an early morning smoke show in my driveway saturday? There will be a 5K road race between 8 and 9 am infront of my house, and my old tires should taste good to all of the panting joggers. Maybe I'll even get cited for disturbing the peace. I hope I can make a full donut first. I've never tried to do a burnout before.

    Just don't kill anybody

My being able to join this venture is gonna depend on if my gear arrives in time. I ordered a 2 piece last week fed ex 2 day, but they said some crap like "we have to ship it from Wisconsin to our Colorado facilities and that will take 1-3 days and then we will ship it to you 2 day air. So if my suit is not here by saturday evening I am screwed. And all because I wanted to save a couple hundred dollars. Friggin thing better fit too once it gets here!

I would be down for the later take off time and shorter ride. But whatever it is is cool with me. Sounds like we might get more people to go if we do the 9 am thing.

Randy, you had my interest for about 30 seconds, then i went to Map Quest and found it will take me an hour and 45+ minutes to get to the meet alone. So no can do.

Looks like the ride I posted has very low interest, so if anybody wants to ride somewhere southern NH/Northern MA, I am looking to ride. Hoping the weather will cooperate.

My new tires are on. I will break them in tonight, and give the bike a good shakedown. I have done quite a bit of maintnance with my two days off. If bike is OK (and it should be great) after shakedown I'll be there.

Half Squid I live in sothern NH. Do you want to meet up down here and ride to the meeting place together?

Sorry Randy and all, I can not go. My Ninja has bad tires and my GF's Katana (the bike I was going to ride) has broken it's front brake lever and I wasn't able to get a replacement today. I suppose that I could ride my KLX and have a 400cc thong jammed up my but for 500+ miles, but I think I'll pass. Not that I could pass any one on that thing any way. I can barely pass any one on the ZX-9! Darn! I was so looking forward to this too! I'll tell you all what happened to the Kan-o-tuna when the chick isn't reading over my shoulder . She's OK though!

Ducaitwheelie: I think I'm going to leave very early for this, so I can take back roads to get there, also still have a few miles to go on new tire break in, so I'll be slow for a while (Who am I kidding I'm always slow) But if you're still interested I'll be at the intersection of 9 and 125 at the evans having coffee at 6:30 and will wait until 6:45 to leave there.
