July 15th Adventure ride

leaving at 8:30AM (if yo want breakfast there, get there earlier)

Route will be approx 50% gravel road, including Sandwich Notch Road, Tripoli road and Jefferson Notch Road

there may be some Class VI road

Ride Report

we had a blast, Bob on a Wee-Strom, Gary on a Wee-Strom , Tom on a Vee-Strom and myself & Paula 2 up on my Vee-Strom

from Tilton diner we headed north on 132 a bit to catch some town roads that brought us thru Belmont, Gilmanton & Alton then north to Sandwich.

in Moultonboro, started to rain, the ride thru Sandwich Notch Road was wet, I was leading the way and couldn't really see where I was going , but nobody crashed, by the time we got to Campton it stopped raining, the ride threu Watervill Valley and Tripoli Road was uneventful

then we had lunch in N. Woodstock

after lunch a jaunt south on 118 than back north on Long Pond/North-South Road.

I scraped my exaust hard on one of the hairpins on Rt 116, wasn't even leaning much, mostly the road camber , more dirt roads we worked out way south

ice cream stop in Lyme

more dirt roads before we finally end up in Franklin,

home at 9:pm, just shy of 300 miles for the day, over 50% gravel roads

forgot to mention

other than the hour of moderat rain thru Sandwich Notch, no other rain at all, by the looks of some of the road ditches on the return, we missed some violent thundershowers

if i ever pick up more of a dual sport i'd love to do one of these type of rides.

a better term is "adventure bike", competes with R1200GS, Tiger, CapoNord, Ulysses, Multistrata, etc.

Adventure bikes are really too big & heavy to be called a dualsport, but they have more travel in suspension and higher ground clearance than regular streetbikes

and BTW, it's V-Strom, not V-Storm, strom is suppose to be german for wind, but I think it's japanese for "I can't afford a GS), I dunno though the V-Strom is the most powerful and lightest and lowest cost adventure bike all in one
