As I left my house to ride to Seacoast I was struck by what an absolutely perfect day we had. I knew that I would be taking of the long sleeved shirt I had under my jacket and that the temperature was going to be as comfortable as it can be all day!
Miles was already there when I arrived and had set up a table outside with DD Coffee, Munchkins and Waivers! Good show Miles...that worked great! By the time we got through a quick riders meeting, Miles had Lucy locked up in the store, and we headed out there were 22 of us!
We took the medium short route to the Lion and they had the tables all set up for us and a buffet was almost ready! Bill G and his wife were there having breakfast...good to see you guys!
This was the first Seacoast Ride I lead with communication gear. Several others had comm and it turns out that it is really useful! Having Sam ride sweep and able to simple tell me that everyone is 'clear' makes it easier and faster to handle a many-turns ride! And with several folks in between it made it even better! If anyone is interested in what we have let me know and I'll post up a thread with the information...
While we were eating breakfast ...
...I gathered some statistical information about the types of bikes on this ride. The following chart shows my initial analysis:
I will be submitting the final results in my grant application shortly!
As we were leaving Breakfast, Punjistick and Lowsider pulled in. They had arrived after we left and were sitting near the back of the parking lot in the shade deciding what to do. While they were there, a cruiser with a couple cops pulled in responding to an alarm in the Seacoast Shop. There sat Harrison, on his shiny new Special Edition Hypermotord...
The cops were interested in hearing all about how he had acquired his shiny new bike and kept them there for about 10 minutes. Apparently they were pretty cool and the two of them made there way to the Lion!
The rest of the day was an uneventful blast of new and familiar roads, FIVE...count 'em FIVE... cagers who actually pulled over to let is all by, friendly banter, some whining about traffic - specially on W****A road, and an on-time arrival at Jillians!
(BTW - MonsterM636 rode all the way from the Cape for this ride! Welcome Mo...and thanks for the above picture of the group!)
Thanks everyone for great riding, Miles for being the guy on the spot, Lucy for setting off the alarm, Samwise for riding sweep, and the rest of the SeaCoast Gang for a great time at Jillians!
Hope to see you all at the Lars Anderson ride on Sept 12th...!
