    Trans Lab Report

    I like this...

    ...and Sarah....ummmmm

Feels to me like they made it seem a lot harder that it really is but the production quality is excellent and I found it really useful in getting my head around what to expect...

If you have an hour, have at it!!!

Nice! I remember watching a teaser for these guys when they did their Pittsburgh PA to Oregon coast video.

The TLH is definetely something I wanna do sometime. Probably when I have the time, money, and proper bike for it.

Having ridden it twice, I can say that the experience is total luck of the draw. You can cruise through with great conditions, or you can be cursed with horrible ones that make progress slow and painful, and they can change from one day to the next or one section of road to the next.

Do not underestimate the Trans-Lab. It can bite you in the ass. Hopefully you'll get lucky and have good conditions, but don't count on it. And plan for bad ones.

    Re: Trans Lab Report

Couldn't watch the whole thing. Got about 50 minutes into it. There was only so much of Jim that I could stand. Was it supposed to be an hour long video of how to change tires on Suburbans?

Where's the adventure in riding two sponsored motorcycles, wearing and using sponsored gear, being followed by large support vehicles as they travel from motel to motel?

Nothing against riding the road, as it's something I'd like to do... but goddamn that was dull.

If you want to see a better adventure video that doesn't didn't require suv's full of "public relations" people and "videographers" to tag along:

    Re: Trans Lab Report

I think I liked it better when ewan and charlie were on the bmw's .
I want to know why they had so much crap strapped to the bikes with 2 chase vehicles .

This is on our rides to do list . Those that are headed up there this year , best of luck , and post pics and reports here.

I am starting to do some research now. we had great luck when we did novascotia in june , and only got rained on 1 day out of 10 .
What is the best time of year to do the trans lab? is the fall too cold ? like september ?

Early September is the best time to do it. Weather tends to be best up there then, and the bugs are mostly gone. I personally would never do it in July or all but the last week of August because the bugs are heinous.

You'll encounter some cold nights in early September, but it's typically in the high 50s or 60s during the day.
