Hey, this is not a democracy! Although I may hold an official vote next week.
In the meantime, everyone should consider the implications of repealing the 50-mile rule (markbvt or kbroderick grabbing it on one of their adventures and moving it to some weird ass remote location where it will die a slow and lonely death).

Well, geez, I was just down there last week. Guess I should have checked out the board before I left.
That's it!
You're gonna make me get on a big ole comfy bike and go get that TAG and put it in some stinky hole on the edge of civilization. Wait, that would be Brattleboro, home of LSRFJ....

Here's my new riding buddy, since moving up here. Her name is Butch (all she'll let me call her) I asked her about sport bikes, she said she sat on one once....
wait for it.....
She still hasn't gotten it removed! The frame sliders are giving her the prickly heat chaffe's

No, really, I don't think that would be an issue. Although it may or may not seem like it, I know I try to put the tag places that would be reasonable for others to find it, and I expect Mark would do the same. I don't want to speak for him, but I don't think either of us is particularly interested having it get permanently stuck somewhere. I don't think anyone else has much interest in killing the game, either—anyone who is indifferent is likely to remain that way, not actively try to plant the tag somewhere remote.
(If he moves it to the radar base following the 50-mile repeal, I'll be proven wrong—but I'd be surprised.)
Now, if I wasn't stuck in Texas for work, I'd think about moving it at least to the Rutvegas area for y'all, but I won't be back in Vermont until Saturday night.
Yeah, while I'm sure some people enjoy getting really obscure tags, I don't think there is a huge risk of people getting really isolated tags.
Re: the current tag, I'm willing to drive an hour or more each way for a tag, but 3+ hours each way is just way too far.
So does anyone here put in long riding days? Three hours is just warmin' up.
I've thought about putting the ADVrider one there, but it would be an illegal tag even in their game -- too many miles of rough dirt road to get there... plus gates in the way.
I would not put the NESR tag there. I wouldn't even put it more than a mile or two down a well-maintained dirt road.
Agreed. Trouble is that a lot of these tags are much further away than that unless you just slab it down I-91 or Rt 7. If you want to make a nice ride out of it, it may be more like 4 or 5 hours. Factor in food and gas breaks, traffic, etc, and you're looking at potentially a 12-hour day. Even I don't have time to do that just for a game.Originally Posted by bigblu

Yeah, my point was that even if the tag appears to only be three hours away, by the time you ride a nice route to get it, reset it, and get home, you can easily be looking at a 10+ hour day. I don't have time to do that every weekend, and most people have less time than I do for all-day rides. Which is why people don't often go for tags at the other end of the state.

Old tag

OK, new tag:
Hint: it's a lame tag, but I was running out of miles and daylight (and motivation, after getting rather thoroughly rained upon in a cloudburst in Ira).
Oh, that's not enough?
Here's the sign:

Kinda lame old tag...
