    #256 race report

headed up friday to get into the groove a day early. but due to the swapping over to rain tires it ended up later in the afternoon and decided to save $$ and not do the practice.

friday night was a blast in the rolling casa de Tomato fun wagon....

    SAT
Practice was damp to i took it easy so as not to kill my rains but i started to feel good.
race #3 RAIN i mess heard the calls and had to start from hot pit, but i caught up to them and was feeling good, passed a mess of the kurlon says 6 i don't remember, then coming out of 6 got more throttle than i wanted and lost the rear. busted footpeg off and bent clipon could not finish the race and due to the weird bike could not do race 11

crap forgot to apply for refund for race 11

got the bike back together ended up with a honda footpeg bracket from hobbs and Mr. Martire straightened my clip on for me.

    Sun
practice went well though i was still feeling the post crash spook

    Race #1
First lap sucked but i got my groove going and finished feeling good. passed a bunch of people. lapped a few. did not crash..

thank you Turn 1A guys and Zip Tie Alley and all the support I would have given up if not for you guys. thank you

    Re: #256 race report

Saturday was great watching you come from way back to start taking people down one by one at first, and then later two at a time in turn 1. I'm pretty sure it was your bike that bit you, but you have a plan to fix that...

    Nice job this weekend.

well it is tru... if i was running a gixah dude. i could have fixed it on the spot and been out for race 11 but because i have to be special and race a bike no one else races i cannot buy parts at the track.. i am going to spend the winter buying parts and creating a spares bin..

    Re: #256 race report

I think we can fab beefy rearsets with some aluminum stock, a hacksaw, drill press, and Dremel. Good news, I know where to get aluminum stock, a hacksaw, drill press, and Dremel. Use Woodcraft hardware (pegs, shifter/brake lever, etc) and you'll have something that'll take standard track replaceable bits.

Or you could just make rearset adapter brackets and run complete rearsets from a common bike... if you wanted, I suppose. Talk to Ryan about getting a radial front pump from a crashed bike so you can use standard levers, and we can swap the clutch with a common perch and lever as well.

I'll do some digging this evening to see if I still have my aramid fibers sample pack, had some 1' x 1' squares of various carbon and carbon/kevlar mix sheets that'd work great on your bodywork and engine covers.

    Re: #256 race report

hey hey hey! his race bike is my street bike so be nice... it has feelings

Yea either get something different or make sure I have my bike up there every race weekend so you can scavenge parts when im not looking lol

I always said, my bikes too heavy, under powered, and handles like shit but other than that its a great bike and looks very handsome haha

You definitely were going fast out there, it was a noticable difference over last events. See you Thurs!

If you are going to stick with the Duc go for the 800. It will allow you to run in LWSB, ULSB, LWSS (with stock rims & DOT's) fairly well. It will fit in other classes but will be out gunned.

You could always try reading the rule book too.....

Most of us run twins. ULSB, LWSB, Thunderbikes if your feeling brave. LWSS for track time... GTL if you need a workout...

Great seeing you get back on the horse.

(Psst... I know where we could find you a Hawk....)

I know where you can find an EX500

Glad to see you get back out there bro, that one race I couldnt believe you closed up the gap that quickly, that was awesome. We all thought you got lapped by the entire field, but as it turns out you just caught them all. Amazing.

umm yah thankd DB but i think i will pass on that.. i already have a bike that is holding me back

ok so it looks like any of them but the 900 if i get the 900 i won't be able to do the ultralight superbike because i will be 95cc's too big.

Believe it or not, but it's quite likely the 800 puts down more power than the 900 anyways, so go with the 800. : )

    Re: #256 race report

    750 < 620 < 900 < 800

LWSS - Air cooled twin up to 1210cc
ULSB - Air cooled desmo twin up to 805cc
LWSB - Air cooled twin up to 1210cc
LWGP - Air cooled twin up to 1210cc
Thunderbike - Air cooled 2v, unlimited displacement
    GTL - See LWSB
    Supertwins - Unlimited displacement
PTwins - Air cooled 2v up to 650cc
LWSportsman - Air cooled desmo twin up to 650cc

So, going with the 900 knocks you out of Ultralight Superbike, PTwins, and Lightweight Sportsman. Going with the 750 knocks you out of PTwins and LW Sportsman. Going with the 620 means you can run PTwins as long as you mount a stock exhaust.

So, the real question is do you want to run Ultralight SuperBike, if so, the 800 is your only real choice, unless you want to try and build either the 620 or 750, but then you're knocked out of SuperSport, and if you run a different head, you get punted from LW Sportsman.
