I thought about the 'could I hear okay with music? could I hear riders around me? could I hear my bike blowing up?'

Then I looked around and saw lots of riders with earplugs in. I wore earplugs at MotoGP and used that as my basis of comparison. My first time out with iPod I had the volume so low that I couldn't hear the music. Dialed it up so I could hear music and bike. Can STILL HEAR my pipe banging into the ground in turn 3.. boy I love that sound.. (har har har). So didn't seem any worse than riding with earplugs in.

Man. I'm sure Yellow Practice will be a 'fun time'. I'm amazed at how many bikes are out there in that session... biggest one on the track from what I've heard.

I agree with you Paul. BTW.. I enjoy watching the 125's in practice, can learn much.

There's a big misconception out there concerning earplugs. Earplugs in no shape or form block out the sound of the motorcycle. I've had so many people tell me they won't use 'em cause they want to be able to hear the bike. I use them religiously and the only sound they seem to block is wind noise and they also cut down on the sound of my pipe. I still know what the bike is doing and I can still hear approaching riders without any problem.

The only reason I'm against music while racing/practicing is that music can be very influential to your actions and reflexes.

When you need to hit a brake marker or whatnot, that millisecond can easily be delayed while your brain waits for the next 'beat' of the music's rhythm.

Congrats Lou!! You Mike and about a million others I have heard of going down there. I was in Raleigh about a month ago. Much more for the $$$ there. The Northeast flatout BLOWS! Nothing redeeming whatsoever...just alot of family. Stay on list when you leave. I'd like to hear about the trackdays and such going on down there.

No problem man....The atmosphere, attitude and overall quality of life is better there for sure. I agree the Northeast BLOWS! and i certainly fucking HATE Rhode Island.
