I just scored a set of NEW Galfer rotors for $275 shipped to my door from Canada. I believe that is a real bargain.

The friendly UPS guy just dropped them off! The SV rotors were on their last leg and needed replacing.

This was an ebay buy it now auction. Listed as last set from a now closed shop. I also scored some other bargains after a phone call. Got a set for my Ducati for the same price.

Do they stop like 275??? I am curious. Why so expensive? What is the advantage?

A little better cooling which results in less brake fade
A little better coefficient of friction (iron vs steel) which means slightly more stopping power
A little longer lifespan
Maybe a little lighter weight... I didn't weigh mine before I put em on.

All in all, I didn't notice much of a difference compared to the stock rotors when I put em on.

But they sure do LOOK pimp, which has gotta be worth at least 1/2 a second.

I bought a set of used rotors last earlier this year. They were used MUCH MORE than advertised. Now they need replacing. These Galfers will last me a long time as the bike is track day only use. I do between 4-8 per year depending on my social life.

Well I'd have to weight them to notice a weight difference... I certainly didn't feel it after I put them on, but then again it was months of no riding when I did the switch.

Had them on the 900RR. Got them off eBay used and they were really warped, so I took them off and replaced them with a new set of EBC Contours.

The Galfers were lighter than both the stock and EBC rotors.

Question on eBay purchases. Are you guys bidding normally, using buy now, or using one of them sniping programs? I had bids on a few things that were great deals and ended up getting beaten in the last millisecond of the freaking auction. One of which was a pair of sidi vortices for $205 another was a vortex fairing stay for $60. Should I be investing in one of these programs?

I bid my absolute highest I would pay. Ya I've been beat by a buck or two and it stings. When an item comes up as "buy it now" and I feel it's a good deal. I buy it.....just like these Galfers...I bought it minutes after it was listed.

I also scan every forum (Wera, SVrider, TFW, BARF, etc) almost every hour when I'm looking for parts. I have the freedom to do that and I've come across some great deals.

I use www.gixen.com you get a few free snipes per month, and it has worked like a charm. I usually still get outbid, but at least I can give it a shot.
