well if we are gonna use that mentality then the experts are the fastest of the slow group too. they dont all race WERA (or FUSA if that were still around)which would be the next step. so i guess they are a bunch of cherry pickers too. if i moved to EX and was winning at the EX level then i would look into moving on past LRRS. these guys are fast because we race at ONE TRACK. its easy to learn every bump, crack, and line in and around the WHOLE track.just like when i go to VIR i expect to be getting passed by local fast guys there. im happy i did this well this year. i got faster and i won races. i had 1 DNF and i didnt finish out of the top 3 all year. it might not have stayed that way if some people hadnt moved up mid year (Hobbs, Parks) i didnt plan for it to go that way but it did. i thought i would be doing at least 2 seasons in AM before i did EX but im getting thrown into it. ive done 8 or 9 races this year. i do 1 per weekend. (i did 2 the first w/e and 2 for the classic). i might have 13 by the end of the season.
Sampson is fast. maybe he will be a star. i was looking forward to seeing him race in EX this year to see how he would do. what would people be saying if he got even 1 title this year if he hadnt broken his hand? that hes still just a wannabe? AMA guys race for plasic tropheys too but Aaron Yeates drop kicks racers when he thinks they made him crash
Shane wont be around for long me thinks. i dont think he wants to be a LRRS lifer and im not sure he cant do it.
maybe next year Sampson will get his chance.
these guys do "average" because they dont have the $$ or factory support or trick parts that say... Spies has. much like i wont be doing 14s to beat Doucette because i cant afford to build a 90-100+ HP SV and have unlimited ability and parts and $$ at my expense to rebuild it after every weekend like he does. so next year i will be much like those guys are in AMA....."average".

We'll just have to do LWSS together, the EX superbike classes are damn near impossible without an assload of cash to toss into a bike. Maybe I'm just more broke than most......... but ULSB pretty much requires a Duc 800 with a minimum of 80hp or a motard(or a built Hawk, which I also can't afford), LWSB is calling for a crazy built SV, or a similarly built Duc 1000. I'm probably gonna get the hell out of any superbike class, and try to focus on LWSS. It's bad enough I'm getting SLAUGHTERED on the straights as it is in EVERY class I race in now.
i cant run SS anymore with the GSXR forks and the slicks.....

Guyers Duc that hes selling and races in LWSB makes an admitted 108HP.......

i think Oct. will see me running:
GTL
THBK
LWSB
and maybe LWGP (havent decided yet)
anyone run any of these?

Thankfully, Loudon isn't a horsepower track. Even so, my hawk wouldn't last long up against most expert superbikes. I guess it doesn't really matter, since I'm not at the expert pace yet anyways.
Next event I'll be in LWGP, ULSB AND LWSS(or THBK) on hobbles SV.
I just want to say im not knocking anyone for their achievements at any level, and that anyone who wins a championship at any level should be proud of their acomplishment.
As far as lrrs greats only being average in ama because of money and factory kit parts, if its that simple why is tommy hayden not running right behind mat and ben? You can have the most tricked out bike but it still takes a special person to get 100% out of it. Im sure both shane and jeff would be the first to admit that for them to podium in ama races they would need funding and a factory ride, but would also have to push themselves further in their abilities. Shane could be the next gp star, so cant the other 30 young guns in the us. How many of them are going to plateu and how many will have the ability to constantly up their game throught their career.
So that means you are going to wait for me in the race and drag me along....old pal
That could be arranged. I will see you Sat AM
Gerard
I race for fun. I am fat and slow. Simple.

I do not know why they put 5 gears in them crf 450s..you only need 1st and 2nd for the pace i run. Dirt riding is a new world,i am going to strap a step stool to my back next time so i can get on the damn bike! I will call peter and jeff asap to sign up for the dirty penguin school.
right and thats the choice you made ... thats what happens when its time to play with the big boys in the EX SB classes .. they actually modify their bikes as much as the rules allow
do I have the money to sink into my 600 to just run SB ... hell no, so I make sure that it is SS legal so that I can run as many classes as possible for now. Once I bump up to EX, i'll have to pick select SS classes that I can be somewhat competitive in. The days of running HW will be gone with people actually running HW bikes in EX.
