Well, I swapped the battery out today, I can see a good chunk of the rear subframe can be cut off but I haven't decided if I'm going to do so yet. I wonder how much weight I could save by stripping off the 17 layers of primer off the gas tank?

A real weight reduction program requires you to think in ounces, not pounds. Systematically eliminate as many ounces as you can and the pounds take care of themselves.
