    moto2 interest

OK, so this is the first thing that has piqued my interest in motoGP...

A 600 in the proper chasis could prove a pretty exciting bike to ride.

Hardly. It's a spec engine, supplied by Honda.

IMO the current 250cc 2-stroke class is much more interesting. They should have replaced it with a 500cc 4-stroke class and allowed everyone to supply their own engines, in any desired configuration. Making everyone run the same engine and tires is boring.

I don't mind the same engine. It will force manufactures to think out of the box with their frame designs, which could mean great things for street bikes.

Using the same engine at least for the first few seasons will save the teams a bunch of money.

Bingo... With the finanical situation pretty much the whoe world is in right now, I think this is a good move... Plus I liked racing a spec class due to the close competition so I can't imagine I wouldn't like watching it. Can't wait to see how the racing stacks up against all the other series.

    Re: moto2 interest

I like the concept of this class. It bummed me at first as I really like the 250 2-smokers, as the racing has been fantastic and the bikes are really sick!

However it looks like you could put together a whole package (i.e. rider, team, bike(s), spares, travel expense etc.) for around 750 K USD. That is really affordable for the amount of exposure the racing will be getting and the level of competition that will be presented. Not to mention the playing field will be more level due to the format. Therefore the rider and team management will be emphasized instead of the amount of money available. I'm all for it!
