Dumb question, but you have ever seen a pro rider using a wave rotor for competition? Usually not. Maybe for photo shoots.

Why not check into Brembo or Braketech rotors? (damn those Braketech creamic rotors are sweet, but $1100 EACH for the fronts.)

I've built sweet Subaru engines. How hard can an SV engine be?

Ya know... I have never thought of that.

I do know my wave rotors stop better than my stockers.

Actually yes, I have... just not the factory boys. I believe there are even some World Supersport guys running the Wave Rotors.

Pete, for what it's worth, I can get you a deal on Braketech stuff too

6.1.2 All motorcycles must meet the following requirements in addition to the
    applicable requirements in Section 5.

induction system, and swing arm must be used.

    (2) 16” wheels may be replaced with 17” wheels of the same width.
    (3) Rear swing arms on OEM Belt drive motorcycles may be
replaced to convert final drive assembly from belt to chain drive.
    B. Aftermarket brake rotors may be used but must be the same
dimensions as the originals and must be made of a ferrous material.

    machine.
Aftermarket air filter units that replace part of the OEM. air box are
required to maintain the original size and number of air inlet openings
as the stock unit. (Are they talking about the Air filter here, Yes, NO?)
Does this mean that you can take the top off of you air box?
RAM AIR plumbing to the box!

....and thats why we all like Gino.

I'd think that whatever you choose to upgrade, it would be important to make sure you have $$ for a full season of racing (consumables, maintenacne and repairs) before spending on anything else. Cant score points if you aint on the track.

Re: Motor work, mod & overall racing advice wanted

Also note, while they say certain head bits must match OEM, they don't say anything about keeping them in the same place...

Check to see if Suzuki offers OEM oversize valves for repair.

Check the grind profiles of different year intake and exhaust cams, might be worth while to run an intake cam in the exhaust for a bit more lift/duration?

08 SV650s got dual spark heads, possibly 07s as well.

It'd be worth asking Eric at CCS weather or not the SFV650 (Gladius) counts as in the same model line as the SV650 (given that it's replaced it in Suzuki's line up, same engine, etc, and even Suzuki Corp calls it an SV replacement I'd think so...) as it appears the Gladius has lighter wheels, and the engine might have some minor tweaks worth backporting to your SV.

    Edit:
Throttle bodies changed for the 'k7'/07 models...?

KEY POINT Thanks D. If you don't race you can do well.

Re: Motor work, mod & overall racing advice wanted

So I FINALLY tore into the SV yesterday...
    pulled off the forks,
    yanked the shock,
trimmed my subframe to save weight,
Popped off the airbox & now have my eyes on the emissions system and wiring harness which are both still fully intact.

I think I'm going to hold off on motor work this year. I'm gonna concentrate on chassis/suspension work & place an order for a Quickshifter at some point in the near future.

And I've got some Galfer rotors waiting for me at DuncanMoto. I was considering going with the AFM's so I could be like Gino, but Ted had already placed the order. I supposed I could sell them & get some AFM's. Gino, think it's worth the trouble?

Re: Motor work, mod & overall racing advice wanted

Done (or being done) for 2010:

    Galfer rotors
    Keyless ignition (just need a 30a switch and a 100ohm 1/2w resistor)
Keyless gas cap (just ordered one of these)
Removed PAIR emissions system to simplify things under the "hood" & shed a little weight
    Dynojet Quickshifter
    Trimmed my subframe
Had my Ohlins shock rebuilt by GMD
Had my fork internals completely pimped by GMD
Woodcraft Clip-ons to rep the sponsors!

Still need to order up a little Shear pin for my Scotts damper... It's a little tiny $3.95 part that Scotts wants $10.90 to ship via UPS ground
