NHMS Thursday Motorcycle Open Testing

Can anyone tell me how this program is run?
Do you just show up, pay and ride?
Is it run by motorcycle category groups like race day practices?
Are there cornerworkers?
Medic on site?
General pros & cons versus Friday PM penguin open practice?

Show up, pay, ride. They serperate it into groups, usually depending on attendence. Big bikes/little bikes. Sometimes just am/ex and novice. It depends. And I forget. It IS a race day practice, though the groups arent as segmented as a sat/sun practice. Its an hour longer than penguin (unless you get an all day practice, theres a couple of those per year), medic, cornerworker all that crap.

its the best deal you'll get as far as track time goes. Definitely do it.

There's much less people there than over the weekend, last year it was $100 and you get 4 or 5 hours of track time with a reasonably thin crowd. $150 if its an all day practice.

I work for the track for open practice and just had a short meeting with Tom to go over some of the new changes for this year. Tom is a real go getter and has made some great changes for Open Practice.

1.) We're getting an extra corner worker and a person for race control. That bumps us up to 4 people plus the normal 2 ambulances. Ambulance crews will not have to flag now. That means if there's an incident, we don't have to wait for the track to clear and then have the ambulance crews run to their rigs and then go. Also, no more Ralph dressed in red and yellow in the tree house!

2.) No more cars in the morning, bikes in the afternoon. All bikes, all day. You can still do a 1/2 day. This means the cars don't dirty up the track and there's no scrambling to put out barriers and reconfigure the track.

It may not sound like a big deal but, it is. Hell, it's HUGE. Just a few years ago, there were no corner workers. Just an ambulance in turn #1 and #8. Wanda will be in the media center to take care of everyone.

Oh, you must have a valid race license or a current (within 1 year ) Penguin certificate.

Far as I know, the price is the same. $150 for full $100 for 1/2 ( 1pm-5pm). I'll double check with the boss but, I'm 99.9% sure it's the same.

last year i camped wed night for thursday practice im not sure if its still allowed. that would be awesome , it was really handy to be there and set up the day before. not to mention it was one more days away from the bullshit at home, Ill be there
