Woot! What a great weekend at the track. Warm temps and fresh tires make me happy!
Friday I arrived in the muggy heat and put fresh skins on the 125. First truly fresh set I’ve used this year. I wen out in practice and the bike was on RAILS! First lap was a mid 17. As I came around for the second lap, things changed. I was on the brakes into T6 and the pavement was dry, but before I let off the brakes, it was full wet! I wasn’t sure what would happen, but everything stuck and I got off the track in the downpour without incident.
Rain practice was good. I lapped all alone on the track for a while, which is always cool.
Saturday was dry and hot, but not too muggy. Practice was crowded, but I was easily in the mid 17s.
Race: I got a great launch and was only briefly held up by an MuZ in T1A before I was nose to tail with Eric. I got a little greedy and tried to outbrake him into T1 on the second lap and ran WIDE. I gathered it up and settled down to check the pace. I reeled him back in through 9,10,11 and as we exited T12 I heard the telltale fanning of the clutch. This meant Eric let his speed drop below the power in second gear and I knew I would rocket by.
I passed him before start finish and put my head down to try to break away and it worked. I eased the pace to 16.9 and did 5 laps within 1/10th of that 17.0, 16.9, etc. I got the signal from my crew that I had gapped him good and I took the white flag with 6 or 7 second lead so I eased around to take the checkers.
Not my fastest laptimes ever, but easily my fastest race distance. I’m easing the real pace toward 16. One or two ultra-quick laps won’t do it anymore… J
Saturday night was fun with my garage neighbor cooking an enormous pan of Spanish Paella on this supercool stove built just for that 60” pan!!!
BTW- Congrats to Iglu for spanking Oreo in PTWINS!!! 25.9 is a great start on the EX.
Jamie- glad you're OK and in good spirits after a tough weekend... You were looking good in the Dash... When the rain came I thought maybe you pitted because of your earlier crash. I never imagined you highsided again! DOH! Rest that noggin
Congrats Paul.
Looks like lots of good stuff.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
That was a great race Paul. Like you said you had some mad catching up to do in the beginning. It was only a matter of time when you were going to eat him up. Once you got past Eric it looked like he was dragging an anchor. Nice win! Keep banging those 16's out.

It's really tough to tell when it starts raining for exactly the reason you described. The corner workers will point to the sky as a way to get your attention, but even that is hard to notice. Now, when it's threatening to rain, that's one more dollar of my attention spent. I periodically check my windscreen for drops.Originally posted by s a x m a n
