Anyone ever put race bike closed cell seat foam on a stock seat pan? I have Hot Bodies race plastics that allow the use of the stock seat.
The SV's stock seat is a bit over-padded and doesn't seem to provide much feedback.
I imagine the stock pan has alot of contours which would render your foam application a real PITA.

Has excellent reviews on SVRider and turnaround is fairly quick.
If loud pipes save lives, imagine what learning to ride would do.
i could be wrong, but i thought SB tails were for the thin foam seats. SS tails where for stock seats
edit: what do you want to accomplish? do you want the stock seat or the thin foam seat?
OK. I was right. Your post confused me.
I have the SS tail and a stock seat. The issue is that the seat is WAY too thick. I really don't feel like sending the seat out for fixing, since it's just a race bike.
I figured the easy way out would be to remove the stock vinyl and foam and just get some from Woodcraft and drop it on the stock seat pan.
Maybe rattle can the seat pan black.
So, no one has ever done anything like this? Is this a Shervin move?
My seat pan is pretty heavily ribbed, and as others noted I questioned how well the foam would sit on it. I also looked at some race bodywork and noted the seats are narrower than stock pans, with the height typically higher than you'd get using the stock seat pan. The width in particular turned me off from the idea as it'd seriously hinder moving around on the bike.
I have the sb tail that's a full pice.. The other has the cut out but..all are diff according to company... But I like the foam precut from woodcraft and you barely touch it anyways...I have pics of mine if u want them..

Well, I finally got all the pieces in. Junk seat from eBay $35, shipped. Seat foam from Woodcraft, $20 shipped.
I removed the covering and stock foam (man, that shit is thick). The foam just peels right off, because it has a thin layer of adhesive.
Then I cut the excess off the upper lip of it with a Dremel, since the foam is flat.
Then I cut the corners off the front of the seat, since the foam is square.
Then I just fit the foam to the cut pan. That's it.
The double-sided tape on the foam seems to be super strong and sticks VERY well.
IDK, i still run the stock seat.
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...
