I don't want to turn this into a full race report but I figured I'd share my Dash For Cash experience because its worth sharing.
I went into the race struggling to get my shit together. The race prior I had put down a best time of 1:16.3xx. Two tenths of my personal best. I decided to go to sleep and try and focus on getting back on track. I start on pole (no comments) and get an okay start. I come out in 2nd and quickly get passed by Pete Ross (242). Before I know it they open up what looks like half to three quarters a home stretch gap. I start thinking to myself ... "maintain and push near the end". I turn some okay laps and about half way through I decide to start riding my tail off. Little by little I closed the gap. Before I knew it, I caught Ross coming down the home stretch and just walk by him (my first sign of something about to happen). Then I focus on chasing down the guy leading the race... no offense to him, but I couldn't let him win. I start chasing him down and catch him in Turn 9 as he goes flying off course. With 1-2 laps to go I find myself in the lead. I turn okay laps and just maintain. On the last lap, coming out of turn 12, the bike seemed to be struggling a bit. I hammer the gas down the straight and everything seemed to be okay. Just as I crossed the finish line for the win... "BOOM"... my motor grenades.
Probably the most exhilerating race of my career. Came from quite a bit behind to win and blew the motor doing so. New PB: 1:15.632
Stay tuned for next weekend. The new motor's coming home tomorrow.
Thanks to everyone that helped get her back to the garage and get me to the podium.... SG for letting me borrow the suit, Michelle for all the great food, Alex and his dad for helping me build a bike for Sunday and anyone else I missed.
Yes, that's right, I borrowed a suit and a bike on Sunday.... :-)
you had an eventful weekend for sure but went fast as always... it's going to be cool to finally see you with the white plates next year![]()
