Despite all my indisicion I gave my final response to the teammate.
Im keeping all 4 races this weekend, cause even a shitty weekend at the track is better than sitting home playing with myself. I really hope it goes better though, cause if not, well, Ill be going through this all over again next race weekend

WHOA! And I thought I was going to be accused of volunteering it myself... you took that in a whole other direction.

To keep it fun you need specific things to work on along with the goal of being faster. If you get a fast EX 500 rider to follow you around and give you some pointers, you'll at least have some things to work on.
It appears to me (as much as I can tell looking at a computer) that you are down about this weekend because you want to do better, but aren't sure how you're going to go about it.

I think its more that I've DONE better, now Im not doing good, and I dont know why. Ive tried following BJ and some of the other guys, and can keep up for like a lap. Theres a HUGE gap in EX riders now, the fast guys are running like 24s and theres like no one till you hit the 27s-28s where I usually am, so its tough getting in behind some of the fast guys for more than a couple turns.

I believe that's the gap between general stupidity and complete insanity, where the bike starts to get really angry at being hurled around at speeds it was never intended for. Or so I'm told, I'm still firmly rooted in stupidity at the moment.

You don't know how much I want to, being able to run the big one on the track when there is timing allowed and finally see what it's capable of... but I'm using the $160 bill for new tires per bike as a deterrent. I need to focus on the GS for the time being.

DB- Don't lose sight of the wonderful opportunity you have to just be out there. Think about how lucky you are. How many people would love to do what you are doing?

Forget last weekend...it's over...gone. Nothing can be changed. Reliving your mistakes is the real killer. Learn from your mistakes...don't dwell on them. There is a difference you know.

Concentrate on this weekend. Hit the mental reset button and put your mind into your goals.

You were looking real good out there last weekend and, if it means anything, I'm going to try your line thru T3. For some reason riding the rumble strip just wasn't working for me...

I say "fuck all" to slumps.

Brush off the dust, pick up the pieces and move forward.

This may have been said (too lazy to read whole thread), but go on a motorcycle day or weekend trip. Something to remove you from racing and stress while re-connecting you with a bike.

+1. I got in a similar situation training for bicycle races. Riding my bike stopped being fun. I wasn't getting paid, I didn't have a contract, I was doing it because I was supposed to be enjoying it, but I wasn't. So, I stopped riding for a couple of weeks (rode the motorcycle a lot more). When I got back on the bicycle it was because I wanted to be riding. When it stopped being a chore it was fun again. Turns out I was a lot faster too.

I'm glad I read you decided to come race. I don't know you, but know exactly what you're feeling. I've been trying to get down to a time I posted chasing Stupidhawk last year on my stock 750. Now I spent the $$ for a built 800 and I'm still a full second off last year's time.

If the weather holds this weekend, and they don't pull that 'tight 10' shit, I'm going balls out. I suggest you do the same thing.

What Scottie said makes a ton of sense. My fastest lap didn't even feel it, go for smooth and don't look at those F'n sheets at the end of practice in the morning. Don't look at them all weekend for that matter. Just go out and race, have fun, dice with someone. That's what it's all about.

There isn't anyone in the stands looking to sign you up - there isn't anyone in the stands period. Go have fun and stop worrying about it.

Yea dude. Keep it in perspective. I'm competitive and want to 'do good' and 'win' but I also realize I'm Club Racing and this is just a hobby. Just based on the fact this isn't your Profession, you need to accept that some weekends are going to be off, it happens.

    you will!!
you need to take off thursday afternoon + go up to the track for open practice!
this will give you the TIME you need to feel out the track again!!
you can go at your own pace without anyone pressuring you + you'll be able to gradually get past the spot you crashed at MENTALLY + physically!!!
+ you'll have plenty of practice sessions to do it -- not like Friday afternoon where you'll be lucky to rush in 3 sessions or sat/sun practice where you won't get your head straight!

    now DO IT
