SV belly pan

    SV belly pan

Sold my bodywork and looking to see if someone has any ideas on what will work for a belly pan for a gen 1 SV 650. I'm going to race naked this year and my options looks limited. I can't find a DR404 belly pan like darkducs and I'm at a loss besides bending/welding up some aluminum to fashion a pan.

    Anyone else running anything differently?

Most of us motard folks run the ebay one. I had it attached with hose clamps through the white tabs but those sheared off all the mounts in a crash or two. Now I just safety wire it on through the rivet holes and I passed tech every time. It is also probably more sturdy than the hose clamps and quick to remove and put back on.

Only issue I forsee on the SV is the fluid retention...my crf carries less than one quart of oil and less than one quart of tranny fluid.

    Re: SV belly pan

For about half of last season, I ran a cut down belly pan to replace the Armour Bodies lower that finally gave up the ghost after two HARD crashes and being run over once. I sort of hacked it, since I had another set of bodywork that was going to go on(and still is, dammit!), but I bet something like this could work nicer with some aluminum brackets. Basically any race lower could be used.

hmmm. interesting. I might go this route. My main concern is tech for the fluid retention as the SV carries 3 Qts or so.

Nice Carbon makes a bigger one.

You could also look for a GSXR race lower and make it work.

They used to be on ebay and I may have them saved, let me check when I get home.

Links are in this old thread: http://www.nestreetriders.com/forum/...ower-for-SV650

... might not be good, can't get ebay links at work

Ouch. That belly pan is about $140 plus shipping from the UK.

I just ordered a spare, best and cheapest pan I've found. I'll post up mounting pics here too if I remember.
