I need to replace the Pirelli Diablo rain tires I have on the SV650. The rear rim I had them mounted on is toast. I'll be going to an F3 rear rim (5" width) for dry conditions thyat I've had in the garage for 6 months or so but am curious if it'd be worth it to also mount the Diablo rain on a 5" rim or if the 4.5" stock rim is adequate? I have a history of lowsiding in T2 in the wet; potentially due to too much lean angle but probably due to throttle application. Would the wider rim give me a better contact patch?
Would it make any sense to try a 5.5" rim and a 180 rear tire for the dry? Overkill on an SV?
I also came across a set of front rotors for a gsxr. They're the same diameter/bolt pattern/offset as my TLR front end, but have a min thickness of 4mm compared to a min of 4.5mm for the TLR rotors. Is the minimum rotor thickness spec'd out due to the tensile strength of the steel and the forces applied to it or is it simply the point where the caliper pistons pop out of their buckets?
Thanks,
Fitz
