Jesus...No wonder you and Gunther are at eachothers throats all the time.![]()
You wanted to get in the game, well your in now so bring it on!!!!!
What makes you think your tires are done? You shouldn't be spinning up the rear or pushing the front doing 1:22's (don't think I'm saying your slow because your not). If you are, your rear end is up to high or your forks need to raised up a little in the triple tree. Like I said before look at some of the other bikes that GMD have set up and you will see what I'm talking about. Personally I would raise the front end because you want as much ground clearence as possible. Why do you think your dragging your toes so much, well becides your size 13 feet.![]()
Ya did great for your first weekend Louis...congrats on the 1:22 and finishing in the top 10. That's awesome !
Hey....Leave my size 13 feet out of this....![]()

" Never create what you can't control "
By..."raise the front" do you mean , I should drop the fork tubes down in the tripple a little more?
I don't have a lot of room to do that..and I have the preload pretty tight. I wouldn't wanna lose any travel or rebound. The forks are stock. I should probably invest in having them revalved and sprung. with some heavier oil....You think that would help.
I am no racer and I don't think I am fast, but I know the rear was getting loose a lot in the last two laps of Race5. I attributed it to the tires being too hot and too thin to dissipate the heat. Thus resulting in an oily tire. No?
Based on that I thought maybe a new set of shoes would be thicker and hold less heat resulting in greater traction.
If I am off base with my thoughts on this matter...Someone in the know , please give me any ideas you might have....thanks.
I really didn't notice a problem with the front.
They are actually only a size 12.Originally posted by LM954RR

I am in no position to debate tire wear issues, but when the AMA raced at Brainard (tough on tires) I believe they actually shaved them down (thinner) to reduce the heat that they retained. If that is true then your reasoning may be flawed.a new set of shoes would be thicker and hold less heat resulting in greater traction
Heat cycles, that makes the rubber compound change.
If you need to swap out your tires, do it. Where else are you going to be able to buy confidence? Confidence in the racing environment is pretty expensive, get all you can.
I'm buying a tire durometer.

The reason I say you need to raise your front end is: Your front tire was used all the way to the edges and you rear tire wasn't? It should be just the other way around. When the bike is to far forward the rear end is lighter and will spin up more.
On tires I used a set of Pirelli's on my RC51 until there was almost cords coming out of the left side and the rear still didn't spin up. On a 8 lap race the tires will get hot but unless your doing 1:12's shouldn't get greasy. On the 30 min. race it's a different story.
I will try the front end then.....Maybe it is just peace of mind and confidence I'm looking for. I don't wanna crash and go broke in the process.![]()
Oh...and it figures...My axles came in today.![]()
The day after i needed them...Go figure.![]()
I'm just giving you some advice. If you want new tires and it will make you feel safer go buy them. That's what it's all about.
Hey...I do appreciate any advice you guys give me...But as stated before, I can't afford to find out my tires are no good the hard way.
P.S.
Kip....What year is your bike?
