    Watch for water buffalo...

.... because I'll be a rolling road block Thurs and Friday for practice (and if all goes well Sat and Sunday for the races). Just watch for the plus-sized guy on a Ducati going slow. I haven't raced since '07 so, maybe I'll bring DBKromz's "Caution-Guy" Halloween outfit to keep you all reminded...

Looking forward to finally getting back on the track.

    Re: Watch for water buffalo...

Races depend on which bike I am getting along well with....

Likely Ultralight Superbike on the 800SS, and Supertwins on the 848.

If the SS is going well, I may enter LWSS just to fuck w/ you Oreo Wait till you lap me and punch you in the kidney....

    ...jk, I you big guy

Since when were you *that* quick?

yeah, I won't be anywhere near 19's on the SS...

...but I also didn't say I'd punch you with my fist either....

PS: Does anyone know how to stealthily put NOS on a 2-Valve Ducati? I need it for when the motards hit the straight... they actually PULL on the SS....

The trick is finding New Old Stock for a recent Duc in the first place. Any of the local dealers should be able to help with that. Once you have your parts, we can help install, although I dunno how bolting on OEM parts is going to make you faster, unless you're really ragged the ever loving piss out of that thing already?

How wild do you want to go? I've got the numbers worked out for a crazy 3v aircooled 800cc Duc motor that'll make LWSB built SV's cry uncle...

All it takes is cash. : )

    1000 DS cases
    695/696 crank (57.2mm stroke)
ST3 heads, stock cam, and valves
    ST3 cylinders (94mm bore)
    ST3 throttle bodies
Arias pistons (They already make high comp ST3 pistons and have the head dimensions on hand, so once the bottom end numbers are settled they can whip up a piston to match with the exact CR you want/need)
Carillo rods (we're playing with cylinder heights now, so custom will be required if not using custom cylinders)

Plumb the cylinders off the oil cooler circuit to supply oil to the heads, otherwise they'll crack from the heat if they don't have anything running in them. (Flat tracker trick, you can in fact use water cooled heads on an air cooled motor. ) Ideally get someone to carve some custom cylinders with minimal passages to feed the heads without worrying about trying to oil cool the cylinder as well, use fins on the cylinder as per normal. 1000 DS cylinders would work, but would need to be decked heavily, and milled and welded to accept an oil feed to the head's water passages. Might be the quickest route?

I've got exhaust dimensions and porting instructions to provide a good meaty powerband peaking around 100hp rear wheel. It's an idea I've had rolling around for a couple years now.

With a bit more effort it can be done on 800ss cases so as to be ULSB legal.

I have to check, I can't remember if it's 996 or 998/999 heads that have compatible stud spacing if you want to go wilder, but it'll make the motor a screamer that'll need to be wrung out constantly to go anywheres. The ST3 3v heads on the other hand are almost perfect for this application which is why I focused on them instead.

Now that sounds like a fun bike to build. I'm a little scared to ask, but what have you got planned for that motard?

So yeah, I'll be up on *one* of the Ducs it seems. Went about installing a new throttle and associated cables on the 848 and well, lets just say that didn't work out so well. Ultralight Superbike here I come!...

Bwahahahaha.... yes! If I get the 848 back together (currently in pieces in the garage, goddamn effin throttle cables), I'll have a camera going for the duration of the weekend.
