    Clutch wont disengage

So I screwed up (AGAIN). I was refurbishing my water pump and I needed to pull out my clutch to get at the chain to remove the pump. Well that worked and all is good with the pump. But the problem is I'm an ass and must have installed something wrong. I now cant get the clutch to disengage. Not just the cable is to loose, even when turned without the cable still no dice. It's an 02 fz1 with close to 30k but had no problems with the clutch prior. So what did I screw up?

Are the plates in the correct order?
Are the plates somehow jamming inside the basket?
Is the clutch actuator arm aligned and functioning properly?

I though they were all the same until I was just looking for a cure. I'm gonna have to check to make sure. Will that cause it to stay engaged?

    How would they jam?

Actuator is good (it's a bitch but proper)

    Yes I am an ass

They're in a certain order for a reason.

    How would they jam?
If the clutch basket has notches or some other surface to catch the clutch plate "fingers" on.

And you are absolutely certain the actuator arm is contacting the slide pin (or whatever you wanna call it) and all that is functioning properly...?

Any hardware get dropped inside the basket somehow? That would promote the scenario you are currently experiencing.

Maybe it's that damned cat of yours........just sayin'

Must be the order of the plates. When I set the stack down I split it in two. Thought they were all the same and must have put the wrong set in first. And yes I can look threw the fill hole and see the assembly moving.

Fuggin cat, he may have eaten some of the clutch material. Good thinking

    Stop looking I found it.

The plates were misaligned but that wasn't the cause. Turns out my dumbass didn't line up the gears properly.

Usually at the end of the clutch push rod is a ball bearing. If you loose it then you will not have sufficient travel. Some bikes have an obvious thrust bearing/washer set

    Lastly adjuster ?

Cheat to get a look at a parts diagram at an online site.

there should be a nice blow up image with the parts in proper order

Come clean John. You tried to carbon fiber cover the clutch basket too, didn't you?
