wd-40 to clean....takes off the chain lube fast..... use it on your wheels to get the chain lube off, does not hurt paint. best thing ive ever used! Been using it for ever. I use gear oil to lube the chain.... it will fling off a bit. but it forces you to keep that chain oiled and clean. With the wd-40 2 seconds to wipe up the fling
Used this stuff this weekend - Im a firm believer in it now.
Used the spray, let it sit for 1 minute then used the grunge brush on it. Chain and sprocket are all sparkly now.

Garandman , where do you get lubriplate 130a grease ? Could this be the "packing grease" or "cosmoline" . My grand father purchased surplus riffles in the late 60's and 70's they came covered in a packing grease , is this lubriplate ?
And any idea of what temp its good for ?
Beat It Like A Rented Mule !!
Legend in my own mind
You can buy Lubriplate at places like Eastern Bearing.
But a lot of people still use the little 2.5cc pots that were packaged to fit into a hole in the stock of an M1 Garand. They sell for about a dollar a pot. I usually buy 10 at a whack. I keep some on the bike, in my tool box, etc.
But there are plenty of good greases available at gun shops.
I officially hate this stuff now.
Bought 3 cans, every single one of them had the spray nozzle malfunction so it ended up leaking and spraying everywhere.

This is that thread I read long ago...
Responding predominantly to G'mans post above about the various DuPont lubes.
I got distracted by and wound up purchasing some of the yellow 'chain saver' lube last time I was at the box-store shopping for some of the multi-use I've been using for a while now. I wound up buying it in the squeeze bottle. Interesting to read that the MSDS is so similar. Seems like the multi-use is likely 9/10th as good. And I've been very happy with the blue multi-use stuff.
My one thing is the squeeze bottle; it's fucking useless. If the store you're in does not have the spray and just the squeeze bottles, find another store. I'm having a helluva time applying the stuff consistently from the bottle.
