Funny you mention that. This is going to sound long but, my best friend girlfriends sister is friends with this girl who is dating the calf implant guy from MTV true life. I met him once, weird dude.

now that my steering bearings require adjustment, page one may help some members with questions on the process.

spending another winter on the bike for posing season.
took these with my shitty camera on my phone

the nose has a scratch that Peach Pit will buff out


took the side fairings for Peach Pit to repaint. kickstand & stock clip-ons removed


cleaned the rotors with 60-grit sand paper. cleaned the wheel


new clip-ons installed


new Frame Sliders installed. fairing already cut


Pazzo shorties installed


Brembo 19RCS master isntalled


front caliper rebuild. everything thoroughly cleaned & replaced all the seals. found out that I actually cracked the right one. ended up replacing that one.


all new stainless and pre-drilled hardware from Pro-Bolt. Have a new set of Performance Friction pads that I'll put in Sunday when I install the calipers back on.


once the side fairings get repainted & all the parts are installed & torqued, i'll put up a final picture for the completed project

tricky thing is getting the pistons out. we used an air compressor to pop out the 1st piston out. then used a c-clamp to hold the 1st piston back in, and forcing the 2nd piston to pop out.

then just thoroughly clean with a brake cleaner & a small wire brush. make sure you dry with air. the new seals popped right back in. lube the seals with some brake fluid before installing the pistons back in. check your pistons for scratches before re-installing.

also remember to keep everything labeled for right & left calipers.

So do these Suzukis typically need to be completely dismantled every year or something?

Reason I ask is because I've never had to spend nearly as much time taking a street bike apart as what I'm seeing here......then again, I ride Yamahas and Hondas so maybe there's my answer...


BTW; I'm really digging those wheels! Guy is selling a pair of Carrozzerias for my FZ1. Too bad they're 19-friggen-hundred!

no, but i've heard it's good scheduled maintenance (i'm sure Noel will call me stupid now) to rebuild the caliper after so many years. my bike is approaching 8 years & near 30k miles. a $60 seal kit & an hour of your time in a heated garage over a boring winter seemed worth it to me. plus i found that my right caliper was cracked on the inside, so it was a good thing I happened to check.

i've said it to many of you, i enjoy working on bikes more than riding them. so yes, i probably go overkill on winter projects on my bike. so where you may not want or need to do this stuff on your Yamaha & Honda, I'd probably be doing the same thing if I owned your bike instead of a GSXR.
