Hi all. I have a friend doing work on my bike and I was wondering if you could help me figure out on how much I should give him. I bought a bike 3 months ago and it needed ALOT more work than any of us imagined. Well, my friend did what he could then passed the bike onto his mechanic friend who's been finishing it up for him. The mechanic told me that my friend has been throwing cash his way so whatever I owe would go to my friend. As far as I know this is the work that has been performed and the parts that have been put in. I am not being charged labor.
-Lowering bones installed and bike lowered.
-Framesliders bought, holes drilled and sliders installed.
-Clutch Lever bought and installed
-Clutch cable bought and installed
-Bar ends bought and installed
-Rear brakes bought and installed
-Fuel filter bought and installed
-Carbs cleaned and synched
-Carb slider replaced (one inside was somehow broken)
-New jets installed (old ones were no good)
-New clutch peg installed
-All fluids flushed and replaced
-Brakes flushed (did something with the lines or something like that)
-New spark plugs
-One headlight bulb replaced
There's probably more, but this is what I can think of ATM. Mechanic told me everything has been pretty much replaced and the bike is practically brand new now. He figures there's about 1K worth of new parts in bike. He didn't pay that, nor did he charge my friend that. When I asked my friend how much do I owe him he told me not to worry about it. I would like to give him something for everything he's done. What do you think is appropriate, considering all that's been done?
