    recommendations for a welder?

Anyone know of someone that can weld aluminum that they'd recommend?

I'm looking to put some weld-on spool adapters on the Ducati swingarm. My preference would be for someplace in central MA but of course I'll drive further if necessary.

    Thanks!

I think you should just get a big torch and try it yourself. How hard could it be??

Might want to check with an expert (Mr. Kates) as to whether welding onto the Ducati swingarm is a good idea. Maybe I'm being overly cautious here, but you might screw up the heat treatment of the aluminum and compromise its strength or something.

I never knew these things existed, I should get a pair for the Thruxton. Pad stands are kind of a pain.

Can you put a set of rear axel sliders on? If so many of them have adaptors for a rear stand. Seems a lot simpler if it is an option, but I dont know what type of bike....

It'd be nice if they specified what alloy they're using.
Any shop that works with AL could do that for you... I'd just make sure they're really familiar with Aluminum. It's not nearly as forgiving as steel.
Even so, if it were me I'd consider other options and I have a TIG in my shop.

If you are willing to travel to Raynham, MA. I have a guy I have used for years. GREAT aluminum welder and he has done swingarm spols for me before and they came out awesome. He also just welded a front fender tab back onto a fork lower and it came out dead on and looked great.

Thanks Derek! Can you pm me with his info? I'll definitely travel to get to a welder that is highly recommended.

is there anybody at the track that could do this on site? I would definitely do that. I'd hate to drive my bike all the way down to mass just for spools.
