    starter repair

Ok, no help needed here. Just wanted to say that re-assembling a starter requires 3 hands and a prehensile tail. All back together and spinning up strong, but not without some shouting in french.

The moral of the story: Do not take apart your starter alone. parts are spring loaded and strong magnets are present. You won't even get a look at what it is supposed to like...

Did.... did you try using opposable thumbs? I find those help, too.

If you can fit your thumbs in there while inserting the shaft... oh, nevermind...
