try turning the motor over in 6th by turning the rear wheel or pushing the bike with the spark plugs out. Then try rapping the starter with a small hammer. Might have a corroded spot on the commutator from sitting.

My SV does that. For me just putting the bike in gear and nudging it forward is enough to rock the starter off its flat spot and suddenly all is well. I pulled my starter apart, cleaned the brushes and contacts, and rebuilt it and yet it still does this.

Definitely worth a try.

Already took the old one out. Rapped it with a hammer and hot wired it. Still nothing. Tried turning the gear and hot wired it. Nothing.

So I popped new battery and starter in. Cranked over fine a couple times then started making the dreaded banging noise
I'll try recharging the battery and see if it goes away

Yes sir. All original - flat sides, aluminum tank, different forks and rear shock etc etc


I stored them in the order I'm going to get to them
That's the next project. Needs the motor rebuilt and cosmetics

Behind that is the SRAD that needs a motor.
