I have been spoiled by years of Honda's with center stands and single sided swingarms. Now I've got tires for my 2009 Triumph Rocket III Touring and am trying to decide between paying a dealer $100 per tire (I bought the tires there but at an internet competitive price) $100 per wheel to take the bike with the wheels on or take the wheels off and save 1/2 the cost.
How do I support this ungainly beast with both wheels off?
With a motorcycle jack

Ride out to eastern CT and have Smutty do it for ya, he's got some sweet new equipment & i bet he'll be cheaper than the dealer

You can get one or two of these: Amazon.com: ZENY 1100 LB Motorcycle Center Scissor Lift Jack Hoist Stand Bikes ATVs: Automotive
I'm really surprised dealers don't charge less for tire installs. Seems like an easy way to make money if you have the equipment already.
Having a way to support the bike without wheels seems like a good purchase either way. Spare set of wheels can come in handy too.

Thanks for the help. I bought the HF aluminum lift and the wheels are off.
Had to fab up brackets to get the rear heavy bike at a balance point and needed a 19 and 14 hex but otherwise no drama.
Lots of disassembly on the rear.
Sitting at Bettencourts now while they mount the tires. The "stickah" line is about 10 deep and priceless people watching
I bought a HF bike jack for my R3, but haven't got around to making or buying brackets to lift it yet.

can you share what they charged you?
Sure
Bettecourt’s charges $50 per wheel off the bike and $100 per wheel on the bike.
New rubber is a good thing, the bike had the regional 2009 Metzeler’s on it and they were like rocks.
Thanks for the info, already have my own tires but don't have a place to take them off and am dragging my feet with paying $100 per wheel with the amount of riding that I will get to do this year ( have 2 kids, 4 and 2 year old )
I have a craftsman MC jack and a small crane I made to lift a bike if anyone ever needs them. Central MA area.

The time to remove and reinstall wheels can vary greatly from bike to bike.
My triumph rocket rear wheel requires removal of bags, mufflers, some bracketry, etc. before getting to the wheel.
My VFR1200x is 5 bolts on the single sided swingarm and done.
Fronts tend to be pretty similar.
When I thought about this, I considered whether I wanted to inspect, clean, lube things when the wheels were off and whether I wanted to trust someone working in a hurry to reinstall and torque everything to spec. I decided that taking the wheels off was better for me.
