I recently saw this that caught my attention - seemed like a very good price

Curious as to why KLR? They are pretty heavy for a dual purpose - i.e. more Adventure bike. I have a DR650 which is (supposedly) more powerful and is about 70lbs lighter

I rode a KLR 650 all over Alaska, mining roads, no roads, mud, rivers. permafrost etc. like a tractor-just keep going...
and still capable of sitting a stable 65mph on the blacktop even with aggressive knobby tires.
Did not change for +20 years (until recently) easy to work on, parts are cheap etc.....

Who wants to go on an adventure ride?![]()
OK, makes sense. Both bikes have a great aftermarket and a big following!

For me the Tiger is just too big and heavy for adventure. The KLR seems to be the right fit. I did not get the Tiger XC, I have the road version and it has become my street, commuting, and long distance bike and I love it for that purpose.
My inexperience is unforgiven on the Tiger and yet on the KLR even when I goosed it around the corner and slid into the ditch, I just rode it back up and out without a problem. On the tiger, I would be looking for help to pick it up!
The KLR comes pre-ugly, perfect for learning and trying new things.
Lastly, my son can use it for his around town bike since he is ready to graduate to the next 'Phair household motorcycle step program' from the DRZ and I will have it available for trips and dual sports.
You need a milk crate strapped to the back.
Loved my KLR. Still miss it at times.

even though that's not what you got it for, you can even drag knee with 'em!
