as much as I'd hate to bump this for my own personal wants.

I saw that tonup, but I want a bike that I could take to bigger tracks like bogie or NJMP and have more power. But thats a killer deal!!!

I might put my CBR600RR trackbike up for sale. Will post on the classifieds section. http://www.nestreetriders.com/galler...ug-1-2011.html. I'll probably be asking 5,500.

BTW, i'm not trying to shit on your thread. I'm just giving you a warning, as it's been done several times from other members on this board.
some will recover costs by selling off street stuff (fairings, clip-ons, rearsets, etc) to break even with the cost of track parts (bodywork, clip-ons, rearsets, suspension, spare wheels, etc).
I agree i wanted a bike that was already a track bike. But i that was until i found a gsxr 600 for a grand was low sided so for that much cant g.o wrong. No real damage other than the fairings

for a grand it is hard to say no, i got my kawasaki for a good price, it was a well sorted street bike, full akro exhaust, ohlins rear shock and steering stabilizer, and gilles rearsets. i sold the stock forks, stock bodywork, gilles rearsets for 1100, bought woodcraft sliders and rearsets along with clipons, full bodywork on closeout from street and comp and 08 kawasaki forks with penske internals for abour 2k, so really i only put $1000 into my bike to make it a full track bike, so depending what year gsxr, wera will be a good place to get alot of the parts your going to want/need
Is it guaranteed that the bike is 100% straight? If not, then you spent $1400 for a crashed street bike and check if it's straight.
Now drop $1500 - $3000 in suspension, $500-$1000 for bodywork. $350 for rearsets. $150 for clip ons.
Then maybe another $1500 for a full exhaust system, power commander, and tuning.

If it's an 04 gsxr like his profile says he should be able to get suspension for around 1k used on wera, bodywork used for 300-500, clipons and rearsets used etc.... Gsxr parts are everywhere
Corey
I made the mistake also and bought a bike not setup for racing. $7k later...

Isn't this a track day bike? Why does he need suspension, bodywork, rearsets? He can ride the bike and have a good time the way it is for now. 1k is a great deal.

I'm a pre-racer as well looking at getting my race license next year. If you are only going to do a couple races a year you won't need to worry about having the latest and greatest in all the goodies on the track. From what I understand, dropping the type of money in suspension and whatnot won't yield results in the novice class, maybe when you get to amateur, definitely when you get to expert. But I would think a stock GSXR could easily run high teens, low 20's at Loudon.
But I could be way off as well....
