2011 Pit Bike Race CHAMPION!
I see classes that knobbies are not allowed
We ran knobbies on the small bikes (100-160cc), although knobbies are not allowed for the big bikes. It was only slightly rough and the organizers were frequently grooming and watering the track to keep it race ready.
Full size bikes race in separate classes, including 250cc, 450cc, 650cc, with A level racers. Here is a short video clip from one of their practice sessions: http://youtu.be/6U3ixtxxoXw
There was a guy ripping on a Harley XR750. I am not sure of the rules, but Roger Durkee's phone number is on the WVRC home page and he could answer any questions about running a big bike.
Some of the big bikes look like motocrossers with street tires, front and rear rims of the same size.
Info from a veteran race "I believe brakes are legal at WVRC. And a street tired bike would be legal. That said, to be competitive at all, you would need to have 19 inch wheels with dirt track tires on them. Most guys re-lace the spokes to use 19 inch rims.
You can run the 17 inch motard wheels as well, and use rain tires on those."
There was some good vintage hardware on track. Check out these photos: http://www.22photos.net/WVRCraces
There is also a TT circuit configured during the same race day, which includes a right hand turn and a jump. I have never been bored racing on the oval, even on a TTR125.
Note that the XR100 and TTR125 usually run with bore kits at 20-25cc over the stock bore.
