Hey guys,
I've tried repeatedly to search "KTM" with zero results? Searching SMT also brings up nothing, any thoughts?
Thanks
Hyper
I know nothing of the actual implementation of the search engine, but experimentation tells me that phrases / words of less than 3 letters are ignored by the search here.
Best bet. Go to Google and type in
site:nestreetriders.com KTM
I can't speak for this forum, but it's common for non-commercial sites like smaller forums to disallow 3 character or less searches. Stresses their equipment, or if they rent space it jacks up their costs.
nedirtriders.com
Makes sense, and of course the site search through google worked!

That is strange indeed. I don't think the minimum number of characters can be set in this version of vBulletin but I'm surprised that a 3 character search doesn't work. I'll look into this to see if it can be tweaked at all.

Hmm it looks like the minimum characters is set to 2 but for some reason no 3 character search I try actually works. You can try using a wildcard, like ktm*, as that seems to work.

Ok I think I found it - the database software has a different character limit for fulltext than what was set in the forum. I just changed it and the search index is rebuilding, so I'll test when that's done. Alternatively you can always use a wildcard on short search terms, such as ktm*.

Thanks for the help guys.
