Don't want to start a cage match but has eBay ever been considered?
The forum time stamp is tough to keep track of based on your where abouts especially via mobile devices.. also, it would allow people to pay more if they are willing instead of just losing out to someone because of a timestamp..
I'm guessing the ridiculous EBAY fee is the deterrent.

You can always just increase the bid to the amount that you are willing to pay right from the start.
Ya but the whole idea is to pay less... Yes eBay has fees but very little and they could be included
Ebay is also more public. Probably a higher likelihood of paying more. Plus too many ways to cheat with computerized bidding hacks.
I think you can do private auctions so it would only involve members.. insertion fees are less than a dollar.. I'm not sure if the final value fee is any different for "services".
I'm all for helping out so I checked before replying...still 10%

The site seems to do the auctions pretty well as it is. Clearly defined rules as well as referenced time stamps so all who are bidding are on a level playing field. I am curious why eBay or something else like it would be any better?
ebay does incremental bidding..
im not sure how anyone would figure an auction based format would not be better on an auction site..
yes. i understand the rules are stated but again, its tough to get a bid in at the last second.. I had a spot sniped from me because of that..
no one bid on the auction during the entire time until the last second .. I was watching it and refreshing too but because its a forum and not an auction,
there is lag, browser response time.. etc.etc that gets in the way.
I like the way it is the times I've used it. eBay is 2.99% PayPal fee and 7% of final valuation fee. Sniping is part of the game and I'm pretty sure you were trying to snipe as well.

i bid really early on.. was watching to make sure I still had it... i see what you are saying though.. i just think it would be so much better if you could put in a max bid and have the site incrementally bid..
anyway.. just a suggestion.. i didnt know ebay was so much.. i havent sold anything on it in a while.
If money wasn't an issue I would... 😭
There are plenty of bargains to be had here, between the different auctions and folks offering up spots they can't use. Patience and good humor will get you some cheap track time, plus support from fellow NESRians before, during, and after your fun as hell track day.

To be clear: The auctions aren't necessarily to get cheap track days. More so they're available to give people a chance to get acquainted with track days. Many times members luck out and indeed get that cheap day at the track, but that's not really the aim. We have NO desire to undersell our track day sponsor's current rates...
That being said, in the years we've been doing this we've only had 2 or 3 legitimate issues. Things seem to work out pretty good and people seem to have fun playing along, and winning or losing at the last minute is all part of the fun. We appreciate the suggestions, but we'll be continuing the way we've been doing it. With so many devices providing so much access, we feel this is still the way to keep in well within NESR's control...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
Track day providers hate people that only bid on auctions and refuse to just buy a day at full price. You're labeling yourself as one of THOSE guys.
Sure, a day here and there ain't no thing, but throw them a bone and buy a day. Or shit, over the course of a season, a membership would definitely get you in the average ball park.

Ohh they do... Ohh no..
Well track day provider's are providing the auction... If they are to provide newbies a chance to experience a Trackday then opening it up to everyone doesn't make sense.. I'm not going to get into a debate on it.. I've gone to plenty of trackdays with a full price tkt but now I'm in a situation where we only have one income so auctions help a lot.. label me if you want
No one's labeling you. You asked & got responses. You asked why & got a couple of solid answers...

I just want to be loved
I didn't mean that to be personal.
My intent was: if your goal is a cheap CONSISTENT ticket every time, nut up for a membership. I don't know what it is about our culture, but the person who gets the best deal always is the most vocal complainer. And if money is too tight, sad to say, this isn't the chosen sport for you. But you probably already knew that.
Time and money, if you have one, you ain't got the other.
